4.5 starsReading books in this series is like having guilty pleasure. In general, they're sweet, borderline to cheesy, and a bit of soap opera in the number of cast (but not convoluted plots). But, I also like them because of the focus on friendships and families. While there's drama, usually it doesn't turn to angst fest. They simply warm your heart. The main character in this book is Alex, a prominent supporting character since book 1. He's attractive, nice, with good job, but sometime is difficult to understand. Many men try to get him, with no avail. The book is even opened with another character tried to woo him. The one that finally managed to win his heart is Leslie, aka Maestro. The car repairman who was bold, and very focus on his job. Leslie had been trying to get Alex's classic car fixed (from previous book we learned how he was when he set his eyes on a car), but Alex resisted and convinced he could do it himself. Which he couldn't so he finally relented and let Leslie did it.Slowly, their relationship evolved into something else. But, Alex kept making monthly trip to Rhode Island, without telling anyone what he did there. (view spoiler)[It turned out, he was once involved with someone named Donald for 5 years. When Donald died, Alex learned that he was married with a son when he started with Alex but later divorced. Out of guilt, Alex befriended the ex-wife even to the point to offer to marry her--a story we heard in book 3. The woman freaked out and disappeared. Alex's regular visits to Rhode Island were to find her, to no avail. (hide spoiler)]Like in other book, we got to know a plethora of characters that may come handy when the author decides to write another sequel.

Alexis and Leslie's book is the best in the series, although I did not like Leslie pushing into Alexis's life. There was some things the author left hanging in the book. For instance, Leslie mentioned that he has never seen Alexis blush and is interested in seeing that one day. Nowhere in the book does Alex blush. I also did not understand why Alexis began calling Robert Robin.

Two men noticed each other in a restaurant two years ago and meet again through mutual friends. One is determined that he won’t have any kind of romantic relationship with anyone and the other is determined to change his mind.Alex has only been in love once and it ended with his heart being ripped to shreds and there is no way he will put himself out there for it to happen again. He loves his extended network of friends and they have been enough for him for the past couple of years. He has an old car that he wants to restore and after realizing that he can’t do it himself he calls Leslie “Maestro” Hannigan, a master mechanic that was recommended to him by his friends. Sparks fly when he talks to Leslie who is in his “Maestro” mode and basically tells Alex he was an idiot for even thinking that he could restore the car himself. Leslie is a perfectionist to the extreme when it comes to cars and is very blunt and straight to the point bordering on rude. When the men meet at a poker party thrown by some of their mutual friends, both recognize each other from two years ago. Leslie is determined that he is going to be with Alex and make him realize how wonderful they will be together. Over a period of months, Leslie manages to worm his way into Alex’s life and they even have a romantic relationship. Alex refuses to let Leslie in fully and tell him what happened in his past that has hurt him so terribly. It doesn’t matter though because Leslie knows that Alex loves him even if Alex doesn’t know it himself. Eventually Alex finally learns to trust with his whole heart and the men have a nice HEA. This was a nicely written story that I found to be enjoyable but not engrossing. I think that part of the problem was that I have not read the previous books in the series. There are so many secondary characters along with the main characters from the prior books that are usually present in one fashion or another. I think that I am missing a connection to them because I haven’t read their individual books. There is very little angst in this story considering the pain that Alex had been harboring over his first relationship and the tone was fairly light hearted. The flow of the story was a bit disjointed for me but overall I did enjoy the book. I think that this is probably a very good addition to this series and a must read for those who have already enjoyed the other books.Reviewed for www.heartsonfirereviews.com

I had trouble getting into this book and liking these characters. This is the first book I have read in this series, and I did get the impression that it was possible to read as a stand alone. However, there are so many people that are a part of the circle of friends and so many back stories, I feel like I should have started from the beginning.

I have no idea what happened with this book but there was no conflict! No worry over the couple's longevity. The book just....coasted. Nothing fantastic. Not sure if this is normal for the series but I sure hope not. I gave the two stars basically bc I like the author and I liked the characters. The story itself was just missing the wow factor.

I've been waiting for Alex's story and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. Leslie was snarky and rough around the edges, but had this sweetness about him that made me like him instantly. Alex was standoffish, but he had a great heart and sense of humor. The big "Rhode Island" secret was a little lackluster, but if don't think it deterred from the story.

Love this series, and Alex and Leslie's "Maestro" story is no exception. I really enjoy seeing all the characters from the previous books involved and catching up on their lives too. Hope to see more in the series.

The books in this series have been very similar and to read them all in sequence may not have been one of my most brilliant decisions. I just waited for this book to end most of the time even though I've liked all characters a lot through this series, even in this book.

I really love this series. The books have to be read in order. The main reason is the characters/couples from each, keep making appearances in later books and some of the story lines from previous books are still in play in the latest release

Sigh I just love this series and Talia Carmichael's books. I hope there's going to be another one in the series. One of the things in her books I love is how they build their own families. Loved it!

Thank all that is holy that Alex finally got to meet Leslie! They were so funny together the way they constantly bickered back and forth between each other, it was never boring. Another great book

Another good book in the series. I liked this one a bit better than the last one but still not as good as the first one. :)

Short and okay. Though I have issue with the sex involving the hood of a car. No way anyone that loves car's that much is going to risk getting ejaculate on the paint job. It ruins paint.
