*NOTE: Author Kristin R. Campbell provided us (The Readdicts) with a copy of her book, Sleeping Gods, book #2 in the Lunangelique series. We thank the author for the book! Sleeping Gods is the second book in the Lunangelique series by Kristin R Campbell. You can read my review of Lunangelique here. After reading Lunangelique, I was really excited to know more about twins Alex and Lexi and author Kristin R Campbell sent me a copy of the book in exchange for a review. Sleeping Gods was, if I am to describe it in one word, amazing! The book is a perfect example of things getting better and better. If Lunangelique was great, Sleeping Gods is even better and if Lunangelique was awesome, Sleeping Gods is super awesome. Sleeping Gods starts out with Lexi being depressed about Cole leaving her unexpectedly. She is heart-broken and really sad. The way Kristin R. Campbell describes Lexi's state at this time is just beautiful. Her words, actions and emotions are affectional. Usually, when I read the first book in a series, I make my own assumptions and theories about what the sequel will have and I've mostly been right about it. I did the same with Lunangelique. But Sleeping Godsproved me wrong, in a very good way. There was so much of riveting stuff happening in the book that I found it hard to put down. I ended up reading major chunks of it in one sitting and had to close it only because it was getting too late! In Sleeping Gods, Alex and Lexi want to wake up the sleeping Gods. Under the pretence of going for a trip to Europe before college starts, Alex and Lexi join forces with their recently discovered family and friends to change their fates. With the help of her new found friend, Patryck, Lexi takes up this mission. Along the way, there are many more angels who join them. That's where the journey begins. They face plenty of obstacles and meet Greek Gods that we are all familiar with. It was absolutely amazing to read about the Greeks. Usually Greek mythology tends to get a little bit complicated for me, but Kristin R. Campbell does a wonderful job in explaining it in a simple yet gripping manner. Lexi was her usual self. I completely adore her as a protagonist. She is strong, brave and smart. She knows what she wants and gets it in the right way. Alex seemed a little quite to me this time, but the poor boy had to go through so much. Besides, there was Cole. Cole! He was simply terrific. I loved him. Whatever suspicions I had about Lexi and all the guys behind her were put to rest after reading Sleeping Gods. I really wish Lexi and Cole get their happily ever after very soon. They make a fantastic couple. All the side characters in the book made it more fun to read. For me, Patryck was very gentlemanly and a nice person, but ah... Well, I guess I'll just leave it at that! Just like Lunangelique, albeit better, Sleeping Gods is captivating and extremely interesting. I actually enjoyed every page of it and kept going back to it. It ended on a cliff-hanger and though I love these type of endings, I am just so eager to read the next book. I love to read about angels and have read Lauren Kate’s Fallenseries and Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. Lunangelique is definitely a new and diverse angel series to look forward to and I am sure it's going to get a great response from readers. It has made my list of favourite angel books!

Thank you to Kristin Campbell for an advanced copy of the sequel to her first book! I was touched and honored to be included in such a way. I LOVED the first book and had eagerly anticipated the second.Mrs. Campbell manages to continue her story with brilliance and left me begging for more at the end. I laughed out loud several times and cried with Lexi in others. I look forward to the conclusion of this series and any future writing from the author. She has, in just 2 books, gained a reader for life!

I am so in love with this series. I devoured both books in less than two days. In fact, I was about 30% done last night and the FIRST thing I did this morning was pick up the book and finish it. I could not wait to finish. I also think I had dreams about it last night, actually. Alexis tries to mend her broken heart after Cole leaves her. It was incredibly heart wrenching to watch her try to pull herself together. A slight love triangle develops as Alexis struggles with her emotions and attempts to move on. It wasn't the annoying kind of love triangle where the heroine has no idea what she wants and what she is doing. It's the kind of love triangle that I can understand and empthasize with, even though it sucks and she makes me want to scream. I couldn't stand Patryck at all. I understood why Alexis tried to move on with him in her life and he was a great friend and tried to protect her, but I hated him. Alexis uses the talent she discovered she had in the first book to try and pull herself together, but she didn't fool me at all. I knew she still loved Cole, even when she tried not to think about it. Because the book is from Lexi's point of view and she was definitely suppressing her emotions, it was quite the interesting read. Luckily, there was much action and drama regarding the supernatural and mythological aspects of her and Alex's life to distract everyone and keep them focused.Alex and Alexis are tasked with waking the sleeping gods. But it ends up being much more complicated than it seems. The reader finds out new things about the twins and the way their new world works. They discover new alliances and have heavy decisions to make. All while trying to be as normal as possible and tour Europe together as planned after they graduated high school.Part of the book is written from Cole's point of view. I loved him as a narrator and it tore my heart out to watch him observe Lexi from afar, as she attempts to move on without him. His attitude about a lot of things changes and even though I loved him in book one, I loved him even more in this book. He was incredibly challenging. The first book in this series was awesome as I got to watch Alexis and Alex discover a bunch of new things about themselves, their origins, and their family. It was pretty cool to discover you are more than just a regular person. But book two is much heftier and mature. The newness and awesomeness of discovering you aren't normal was gone and the twins realize just what kind of challenges face them. If ever they thought they could lead normal lives, they quickly realize that is not the case at all in this sequel. I liked this aspect a lot and I enjoyed learning more and watching the characters grow. This series is highly addictive. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys YA fiction with supernatural and mythological elements mixed with coming of age and romance. It is well written and the narration flows effortlessly. It's almost Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan meets Fallen by Lauren Kate, but also much more. It's full of action, emotion, love, heartbreak, revalations, pain, and maturity. The cover is also absolutely stunning. I can't rave about this series enough. I also cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out!

This book was an exhilarating continuation of the Lunangelique series. I really love Campbell's twist on Greek Mythology and Angels. The Sleeping Gods is a bit more angsty too!Cover/ writing styleI really like the cover, it is mysterious. I like Campbell's writing style and this book is written in the first person POV.Main characterLexi would so be my bff.. she is snarky, determined, and strong, yet slightly vulnerable. She was depressed at first, because the love of her life Cole left her, but she moved on. I could compeletely relate to her.SettingI loved the setting changes in this story!!! I don't want to give too much away about it, but I'd reallllly like to visit the cities Lexi and her friends visit on their trip.Swoonworthy scale: 7.5 This book is pretty swoony! I love Cole and want so bad to forgive him for leaving. He was only trying to do what was right for Lexi. Plus the fact that he is a total hottie helps ;)Bonus PointsWe get to meet a few Gods and Demi-gods in this book and I love everyone of them! I adore mythology.SummaryAlex and Lexi finish up their senior year of high school and have plans to tour abroad. In the absence of Cole, Lexi is forced to pick up the pieces of her broken heart. Luckily, (with the persuasion of her father) Patryck is there to help her. In the middle of their tour, it is decided that the group, along with Edmund their father, and a few new friends should detour to Mount Latmos and awaken the Sleeping Gods. But there are lessons to be learned and obstacles that stand in their way...If you like the Covenant Series, you'd like this series. I know I do (and really caaaan't wait for the next book in this series!!!!)

Favorite Lines “But I cannot smile. Not a real smile. It’s the ‘I’m-really-alright. See-my-mouth-is-turned-up’ smile. Almost fools everyone. I feel like my life is being puppeteered.”“I love you so much, Lexi. Please don’t ever doubt that again,”Whew! Thank god! I won't tell you why I'm saying that but OMG thank god!! Lexi and Alex are touring Europe for the summer before college and preparing to wake the gods. These twins have a string of calm then storm storm storm! I'm surprised one of them hasn't cracked yet! I loved how this author just wraps you in her world and holds you there. I so want Cole he's my new favorite man from books now! He's so adorable sweet and OMG sexy! As in true OMG fashion the last sentence of this book made my heart stop! I can't wait to see what's next in this world. Great writing and even better characters! I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (RAVBT)FIVE THANK GOD FAIRIES

Seriously, I've got a bad obsession with talking to her. She is so funny, witty, and amazingly smart. Just like her books. I fell in love with the first book Lunangelique from the first couple of pages. I honestly could not put it down. Sleeping Gods was exactly the same. I read both books in two days. I did a little happy dance and a lot of squealing after I got Sleeping Gods. Thankfully no one was around for this because due to all my excitement of looking at my phone screen, I may have ran into a wall and fallen during one of my stellar moves. Anyway back to Kristin and her awesome books.Lexie throughout is trying to mend her broken heart after Cole vanished on her. Lexie handles the break-up in a very realistic way where it's not like "could you get over it please" kind of way. She's still the strong character she was in the first book. There is a slight change, mostly she is unsure of herself in ways she wasn't before. Sleeping Gods deals a bit more with heart break than the happiness that was Lunangelique. I could truly relate to this book. Heart break hurts, and that I think is what helped me relate to Lexie so much during this book, and not want to just say get over it. Also the fact that there is a load of action as well as surprises in each page makes the heart break not the complete focus of the book which I thought was great writing on Kristin's part.I hated Patryck. I honestly wanted to kick him where the sun doesn't shine every time he was mentioned in the story it completely set my teeth on edge. All I could think was "You're not as awesome as Cole" I know immature but I could not get over this. I completely understand how Lexie could and did fall for him which kind of caused a love triangle thing but not cliche. He was there for her when she needed him, and they shared similar interests. After Cole reenters the picture Lexie goes through a whole "I hate you phase" with him, dealing with the warring emotions inside her. Although Lexie didn't necessarily know what she wanted, many of the other characters did and that made me do the happy dance 8)Sleeping Gods is also written in Coles perspective which was awesomesauce, since I love Cole. I felt so sorry for him while he was watching Lexi from afar. Cole goes through a major change in the book from where he is more firm on what he wants, and I have to say that made him even sexier. There were so many surprises that happened to Lexie and Alex on there journey to awaken the sleeping gods from there slumber. Heart break, and heart wrenching moments. Sleeping Gods is a book that will keep you guessing until the end of the series. Major cliffhangers at the end which make you want to hurl the book across the room. There is a lot of research that goes into these books, if you can't tell by reading them. Greek mythology lesson let's just say pools from the pages. I honestly feel that what also makes these books so amazing is the fact that I'm also learning about Greek mythology in such a new and amazing way. Kristin truly has a way with words. Lexie's world is so full of magic, and wonder it's hard not to fall in love with this amazing story.I honestly loved this book, if you couldn't tell by my praising it every three words I'll just come out and say it. I love love love this book, and this entire series. I am counting down the days until I can read the third and file book to this amazing series, and I know Kristin will not disappoint. I hope you all pick up a copy of Kristin's amazing books, and fall in love with them just as I have. Happy Reading!!!

Is possible to forget your first love? Can you move on with your life after so much suffering? Would you wake up the gods if that will bring destruction? These are all questions that Lexi has to deal with in the second book of the series. After been abandoned by Cole, Lexi is depressed, sad and almost living in automatic-pilot. After six months of going by life like a zombie she finally decides to move on with the help of Patrick. Lexi and Alexander (her twin brother) will join forces with Edmund and his team of angels to free the gods from their sleep. The journey will be full of obstacles because many people want them to fail.In book two we see a different Lexi. She has to learn to move on, to forgive and discovers new sides of her persona. While her heart is divided between two guys, she has to remember the independent girl she used to be. Is amazing to see her evolve into a really strong woman with the ability to accomplish anything she wants.Patrick takes a more relevant role in Sleeping Gods but somehow he is a character that you don’t fully love. He seems like a good guy but deep down we all know what kind of person (or angel) he is. Edmund continues to be the overprotective father, taking decision for the rest and wanting to impose his will over others. Cole, what to say about him? I’m team Cole since book 1 and this second part only made me love him even more. He is sweet but with a dark side and really cares for Lexi. He continues to be the person that brings the best of Lexi and that helps her through her most difficult moments. The action in this book is amazing. Every chapter brings a new twist and you never know what to expect. And the tension between Lexi and the two guys is what this series needs. Sleeping Gods will take you on a ride of emotions, will take you breath away and more than once will bring tears to your eyes. With an ending that will leave you at the edge of the seat waiting for part three this is a book you will love.(I received an ecopy from the author in exchange for an honest review).

Well I must say Kristin R. Campbell has done it again and left me in shocked on how she ended Sleeping Gods. Really Kristin you had to do that to me didn't you lol okay back to the review. In this book we see Lexi go through heartbreak and you will see an love triangle as well with Patryck. I don't care for Patryck much but he did do some cool things like travel to the past and where he went and who he took was cool. You have to read it to find out for your self. You also get to meet different Gods and Demi Gods in this one which is awesome. I do feel bad for Alex and his love life but its understandable at the same time. I can't wait to see more of Alex and how it will affect him. So much happens you won't be able to put the book down till you are finish with it. Then when you do finish reading it you will be saying the same thing I say as stated above. My mouth dropped at the end of the book like seriously that is how shocked I was cause I so didn't see that coming. I can't wait for the 3rd book so excited about it and looking forward to reading it too see what happens. I need to know what happens Kristin!!!

4.5 starsShe’s done it again. I must commend Kristin on all the research that must have been involved in writing this series. I appreciate the work she put into this. The way she wove the mythology into daily life was fascinating. The descriptions she used made me feel like I was there seeing it myself. It’s this attention to detail that makes an author stand above the rest. I have to admit I was on the wrong “team” for a while….she’s that good of an author.

And then at the end when he gave her the ring! I hope he and everyone else will be okay!!! Can't wait to read the 3rd book.

Ahh where to begin, This book by far the best I've read this year! Keeps me guessing and wanting more!! I love how this book is so different from all the other books I've read. I love how it uses all the God's and goddess. There is a Love triangle short of, and so much confusion with Lexi. I just cant wait til the next book comes out!

    2018-12-05 14:29

This book picks up where Lunangelique left off. Although the editing still needs some work, the second book does not disappoint when it comes to adventure and danger. Lexi (Alexis) is picking up from a broken heart. One that was broken with good intentions but still broken. Patryck comes in to help her, what a surprise, and gets her to focus on him and getting together with him. Shocker there. in the meantime Cole is still trying to watch over Lexi and misses her. Thinking he is doing the right thing and doing whatever Edmund says to try to redeem himself so that he can be back with Lexi, he ends up having to take in Io and watch Lexi from afar get close to Patryck. Again my favorites here are Cole and Alex. Why? They are a calming presence. Alex always trying to do what is right and practical. Cole doing what is right and trying to protect even though he is hurting inside. I love when Ollie makes a appearance as well. That is great because it shows Cole's nature of forgiveness and redemption. So the story Alex, Lexi, Patryck (grrr) and Alex's girlfriend head off to Europe for the summer. Edmund has orchestrated Lexi's future through her art and she is going to Yale in the fall and her brother is off to Harvard but before that they are off to Europe for a vacay and to awaken their mother and the other gods. Bad idea bad bad idea. Even Persephone agrees it is not a good idea. Anywhoo, the adventure begin in Italy. Here we see everyone show up. Ollie, Edmund, Cole (yay), Io, Hercules, the whole gang. Why? Alex and Lexi of course. Lexi is as hotheaded as even and to lash out at Cole she is with Patryck. Patryck is okay with this because, even though he has cheated on Lexi, he has feelings for her and also wants to make Cole suffer. Cole wants Lexi and will do what he needs to to be with her. As they navigate the rough patches of love, Lexi gets taken by Persephone and she finds out things she didn't know before. All the while, Ollie's old crew is in town and after her as well. They grab her and Cole and Alex and boy is that not a good time. Alex and Cole suffer immensely but Helios shows and has a chat with Lexi. Did she listen? Nope of course not. What she did find out though on this trip is that the angels would rather die than live. All except Cole who enjoys life. This has Lexi think twice about Patryck yeah. The end has them racing to Latmos to free the gods. Fights ensue but right before that Cole (le sigh) declares his undying love for Lexi. Love Cole. That boy would do anything for that girl. As the fighting goes on outside, Lexi and Alex are inside awakening the gods. All good deeds though do not go unpunished and Zeus truly is a horndog.

In this second installment of the series the plot thickens. We get to know some new characters, and enjoy the appearance of several mythological characters. In the first book, we learned about angels and the beginning of Christianity, but in this book we learn about mythology and most importantly, the consequences the decision to wake up the sleeping gods may entail. This book had more action and thrill than the first one, and we can see how the story is starting to unravel. But the ending…OMG! The Cliffhanger! I mean I need to know what happens next!It was fun to see the relationship between the gods, demigods and angels, and the interpretation the author proposes of some well known myths, like Io’s story and the mental stability of her lineage. But I missed Alex and Kaitlyn. I felt that they were a little left behind in this book. I would’ve really loved to see some of Alex’s points of view on the events that were developing, specially a take on some decisions he made after a conversation with his mother, and his reaction to Kaitlyn's decision.I think my opinion is definitely biased on this one, but I really don’t like Patrick! He is a cheat, liar phony! Whilst I hate what Cole did in the first book, leaving Lexie and all, I mean that is just plain stupid! To leave the person you love in order to protect her? I mean please! Let her decide and make her own mistakes. Anyhow, even I hate his behaviour; it is really hard for me not to like him. I was rooting for him the whole book.Edmund, on the other side, I have mixed feelings for him. I think he did not have the right to become so controlling of his kids, because he was not there for them, for any reason that was. But I do feel for him, because I can tell that was a hard decision. It was great that this time we got two points of view to the story, Lexie’s and Cole’s. Since they weren’t in their best terms, it helped the narrative to get both points of view. I stand on what I said about Alex though; I feel his point of view is missing to complete the whole picture.I hate to repeat myself from what I said in the review for the first book, but I experienced the same issues regarding grammar and formatting. I’m sad to admit that it bothered me A LOT. Other than that, I’m crazy about this series, the originality of the story and the approach of the author to religion is refreshing. Finally, I stand in my opinion of this series; I can’t stop thinking of this story. I’m definitely in love.4.5 Stars.*Note: I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review, but my opinion was not biased in any way by this fact.

Four out of Five FangsI received a copy of this story for an honest review for Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock!Sleeping Gods picks up months after renegade angel Cole abandons his great love Lexi in Lunangelique, the newly identified offspring of Moon Goddess Selene and warrior angel Edmund. Cole’s desertion coupled with the pressure of fulfilling the prophecy of awakening the sleeping ancient Gods trapped by Sun God Helios, crush Lexi and make her a ghost of her former self.“With every second that goes by, my anger and hurt for Cole leaving me turns into hate. I hate that he was a coward, I hate that it was so easy for him to leave me, I hate that he let my father drive him away, I hate that he has not once tried to contact me, I hate that he hurt me.”As Lexi turns to angel Patryck for comfort and support on her quest she doesn’t realize Cole is watching from the shadows. Cole left with the idea of protecting Lexi from the taint of his past but watching her slowly fall for Patryck drives him to the brink of insanity. When Cole reinserts himself in Lexi’s life and journey to awaken the God’s, she all but screams her displeasure. “Man, does it suck when someone you love everything about, hates something about you.”Sleeping Gods is an exciting and adventurous follow-up to Lunangelique. Author Kristin Campbell does a great job of balancing Lexi and crew’s epic quest to release the Gods with the mandatory angsty YA love triangle. Lexi’s heartbreak and Cole’s desperation give the two characters a little harder edge that match the sense of urgency in finding Lexi’s Goddess mother Selene and the other Gods locked away from the rest of the world. The introduction of new demi-gods and other ancient legends add new life to the story and getting both Lexi and Cole’s POV’s made the story richer. The one tiny complaint I have involves a member of the Lexi-Patryck-Cole love triangle. We as readers get to know fairly quickly in the story that one member of the triangle is a bad person with bad intentions. Lexi stays oblivious for the majority of the story. With her new Goddess/Angel powers she cannot tell she’s being lied to. Her super powerful Angel father and God/Angel brother cannot tell she’s being lied to. Only the other member of the triangle knows and he says nothing. I actually caught myself yelling at my Kindle “Just tell her already!”Overall Sleeping Gods is a great story full of energy, interesting lore, and well developed characters. I really enjoyed it and thought it was a great next step in the Lunangelique trilogy.

Come by my blog post for the whole series reviews and excerpts for the Lunangelique Book Tour Here is the Direct Link Lunangelique Series Book Tour Blog PostThis story just keeps getting better and better. I had a big gap of time in reading book one, and this one, just got too busy and never got back to it, so I started this one over, and also read the last few chapters of book one to get my memory triggered, and it worked, and just loved this one. I am now glad I didn’t finish this one back when I first bought it, as I would have went crazy from that cliffhanger ending. I was glad I was able to pick up Awakened Gods (Book #3) right away. This story continues pretty much where book one left off. Its gets really interesting from there. I wont get into the story too much, so not to spoil it for you.Trust me if you like mythology type books, or angel ones, you will love this series.I give it 5 out of 5 stars, and highly recommend it.Be sure to check out the previous book and next one if you have not already done so.

I am loving this series!! Kristin has pulled me into her book once again and it was another wild ride!Alexis (Lexi) and Alex are finally done with school and are now on the hunt to find a way to release their mother and all the other Gods locked in the mountain. We get to meet LOTS of new Demi Gods, Gods, and other Angels, learn background stories that I didn’t think could get any worse, and explore Europe! On their journey Lexi is dealing with major heartbreak from Cole leaving and dealing with some feelings she is having for Patryck. I didn’t enjoy Partick and when I found out his history with Cole, which made me yell out OMG!, made me hate him even more! This book is more emotional than the first and your heart hurts when Lexis does.Something that I loved that happened in this book and not in the first was Cole telling part of the story from his point of view and we get to go through his experiences and emotions as well. Us women love to get inside a guys head. Lol Its not all about Lexi this time either Alex is dealing with his own relationship problems and making huge discoveries about himself as well. They all are still being hunted and watched by the Angels that wish to thwart their plans and makes you question if they will ever release the trapped Gods.Sleeping Gods is an emotional, thrilling, gripping, whirl wind of a story. Even if you don’t enjoy mythology you would love this book. There are so many twists and turns, parts that will make you scream, laugh, and cry (sometimes all at the same time). I enjoyed it immensely and I can not wait to see what is going to happen in book 3!

Book 2, 4 stars for the story itself.Alexis still has her anger issues, and it worse. Alex is showing some real personally and backbone, maybe a little bit of a jerk in this book.Meet more characters, and learn more about everyone. I mean everyone, in Greek Mythology. So be prepared for a Greek lesson. And that's a good thing, you need the little lessons cause you won't be able to keep track of all the names thrown at you!Twists and turns, deceit and more lies. But it all keeps you glued to the pages. This book was better than the first.Patryck, was a big part in this book. He was annoying, I was happy for Lexi that she was moving on, but there was just something about him I didn't like. He treated Lexi good, always sweet to her. But in the end, he was hiding things from her, cheating on her and the list goes on.Cole, still the "hero" was still always there, watching over Lexi and still very much in love with her.Was great to have parts written in Cole's perspective.I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Even better than the first, the whole book was great unlike the first where only the last three quarters of the book was enjoyable, My only complaint was that it was a little hard to keep up with all the mythology history. i know a bit of the history and maybe not add much as i should but it was a lot to take in. As some of the other reviewers mentioned Im sure it took a tremendous amount of research for the author and for that i give her a ton of credit.
