The Birthday, A Short Story Reviews
This was a really heart-warming short story. Being a mother and wife myself, the words that were written felt real to me. Her son acted the way my eldest would when trying to get what he wanted. The way she saw her family rang true. I wish I could have read more about the rest of the birthday evening. Did they end up at the theatre? Was there a surprise birthday in the end? I can't wait to read more by Ashley Barron.
Although a lovely little piece, it was more of short.. short writing that resembled more of a journal entry or a reflection on life. It seemed more as one's memory possibly written in a journal and the reader stumbled across it. Not actually what I would call a fiction story. It would have been better had it been in a book that had several other short stories as to a very short stand alone writing.
