This is such a fun and charming adventure that these two little mice embark on. I loved the creative illustrations and imaginative story. Definitely something that a child will enjoy reading again and again.

I love this book on three levels. The illustrated in bold primary colours are captivating. Story becomes art and art is story. The story is an adventure and an exciting highly creative one. Such stories become favorites and in turn classics read by following generations. The story reminded me of the famous mice in Beatrix Potter stories, where the scale of the mice world and the real world is mesmerizing and exciting. The final very clever element in this great kids story is the consistent attention to grammar points Prepositions of place and superlatives are in the text, so kids learn grammar points as they read or are read to. When a children's book is artistic, creative, has a captivating storyline, and helps children to learn ...that is a winning combination and why I highly recommend this book.

Mermelstein has written a very delightful story with adorable illustrations. A pool re-imagined as a sea was a nice take. It was fun to see the various pool items described by the mice. It’s a short book, but you still get a glimpse of Jib and Spinnaker’s personalities. Though I’m not the intended audience, I enjoyed it. It was relaxing and pleasant. I was told that the intended use is to teach descriptive words. So if you’re looking for a book to help with that, this book is perfect. If you’re just looking for a cute, fun story, I’d recommend giving this a try.

How absolutely sweet! The little mice in this wonderful children's book have a problem. They have fallen into the "ocean" in their backyard home. I thought this story was very original and also very sweet. The language is simple enough for a young reader and it was interesting and filled with perils the little mice had to navigate. The illustrations are hand drawn and retell the story in pictures perfectly. If you are looking for a cute book without anything you wouldn't want your child to see, this is the perfect book. I will certainly look for more books by this author.

In this delightful children’s book, Jib and Spinnaker are swept away from their home in a terrible dust storm that displaces them into the backyard pool. The two mice thinking they are in the middle of the ocean, learn how to survive with teamwork as they encounter the various dangers of the open water. Do they make it home in this beautifully illustrated book full of adventure? You’ll have to pick it up to find out. :)
