So how could you not want to read this - with a guy named Jubilee and a Cher impersonator and someone missing his dangly bits? Count me in - Ride em COWBOY!Edit: Completed the book. It was a fun ride - lot of slapstick type humor. Stereotypes (on purpose) and caricatures make this one engaging. The only thing marring it was that I had to go back a few times to make sure I knew whose viewpoint I was reading. POV switches were a bit rough at times. This one is funny - both in its intentional funny spots as well as the more hidden areas. It does end with a to be continued...but it's not really a cliffhanger. It is a unique book, a bit strange, and a nice change from the same-o-same-o that is out there!

UPDATE ON THIS REVIEW Aug 2013:I gave this 2 stars but now that I've discovered it wasn't finished, I've removed the 2 stars but I'll keep the review below as reference. I will start on the series only when it's complete. This was a very uneven book. Once Kieran Fox got to that Texas small town, I had a hard time figuring out what the story was about. I know there's some kind of plot in there but I don't know what it was. The two MCs were so alike I couldn't tell them apart and because the story is written in alternate 1st Person POV, this book was a bit of a disaster for me. I'm going to have to find a review that will give me a detailed synopsis just so that I can recoup a few cents.Up to the halfway mark, the MCs have kissed but there's no sex. I haven't a clue this book was given such a misleading title. Looks like it's back to trolling the free slash sites and fanfic sites again.

A very dear friend, whose opinion I respect quite a lot, recommended that I read this first book in a new series by A.J. Llewellyn and D.J. Manly, of which neither author had I read before. So combined with a good recommendation, an intriguing blurb, and the excitement of discovering new authors, I jumped right in. It only took a page or two before I realized I was going to enjoy this story very much. Once again, my friend was right.Kieran Fox is having a pretty crappy life right now. He's spent his life working as a police detective in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada dealing with the narcotics trade, and he's darn good at it. Unfortunately, he wasn't good enough to realize his lover was a dealer, and when he did, Kieran arrested him and brought him right in, but when the crap hit the fan, Kieran was smack dab in the middle of it. I could understand his surprise when he got a knock on his door, while he was feeling pretty sorry for himself, mind you, and there's a sheriff from Texas standing on his doorstep wanting to offer him a job. Good thing his dad was from Texas or else immigration might have been involved. On a side note, Sheriff Dillon DePriest is hysterical, without meaning to be, and I snorted a few times with some of the stuff that came out of his mouth. When it comes right down to it, it doesn't take the sheriff too long to convince Kieran to come accept a job in Lone Trail, Texas and help them out with the horrific drug war they're dealing with. Of course after looking up the town on the Internet, Kieran is a little put off by all the reports of white supremacists, line dancing, people praying with snakes, and referring to women as belles. Yikes. Although nothing on the Internet comes as close to describing the town and its going-ons like the sheriff does on their three hour plane ride. Kieran isn't sure what in the hell he's gotten himself into.Jubilee Mason came back to Lone Trail from Dallas when his sister was widowed and left with two little boys. He came home to help take care of his nephews, although returning to Lone Trail wasn't really high on his list of priorities. It's tough to be a cop, gay, and living in Texas, the state that is firmly Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve. At least in Dallas there were gay bars where he could have anonymous hook ups. Here at home his only entertainment is the friendly rivalry Jubilee, as a US Marshall, has with Sheriff DePriest. And, now, he's got Kieran, the mystery man from Canada. This book was laugh-out-loud funny with sexy banter and great dialogue. I really enjoyed this beginning to a series and am looking forward to the next one, if nothing more than to see what's going on with Kieran and Jubilee. They started dancing around a romance, but Jubilee is in the closet and Kieran doesn't want to get hurt again. Yep, definitely looking forward to it!NOTE: This book was provided by the publisher for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews

4 1/2 HeartsFirst published at MM Good Book Reviews Fox is reeling from a disastrous romance which has left him jobless. He’s head-hunted by a Texas Sheriff and finds himself in the town of Lone Trail, Texas to put a stop to murders and drug deals. Jubilee is a US Marshal who’s on a task force that is digging into the drug cartel. Teaming up with Kieran is a great idea when the bad guys begin to drop, but the attraction between Kieran and Jubilee could be a problem in small town Lone Trail…as well as the problem of Jubilee’s closet door.Oooohhhh!! now this was a great mixture of excitement, danger, banter, interesting characters, astounding pets and the beginning of a romance with obstacles to overcome. Kieran has been badly burnt in his last romance and has no plans for a new one. But, his attraction to Jubilee clouds his mind. Jubilee is in the closet, but his attraction to Kieran has him sticking his toe out. He doesn’t know what he’s going to do, but he can’t fight what he feels. Both men have to focus on their joint investigation into the drugs and murder that hovers over Lone Trail.God. Kieran and Jubilee are brilliant characters. I loved their banter and teasing and their general interaction. They make a brilliant team both on and off the job and their interactions with other characters are great. Both are very comfortable in themselves and it shows in how they are with others. Dillon is another great character who you will enjoy, there are a few characters that will give you a giggle and make for a very interesting story. While our men are chasing the baddies, there’s a certain baddie that comes for Kieran and he is nasty in his methods of drawing Kieran to his clutches. There’s a bit going on and you follow the trails as they take you through the suspects trying to find the main drug dealer/murderer Reggie Jones; with an alligator autopsy, gruesome remains, betrayal from an insider and drugs turning up in unexpected places. This is a very enjoyable story that is well written and gives you some chuckles and one or two ‘ugh, ewww gross’ moments. One thing I will tell you is that while Kieran and Jubilee get together it isn’t until near the end and then a bit of a bombshell is dropped on them. Although from the way they are in bed, I doubt it will be anything more than a slight blip, because they are HOT.So, I am recommending this to those who love crime, guns, alligators, backward hicks, a shoot-out, betrayal, a very conniving bad guy… or maybe two, and a romance that is hard to get off the ground, but with some hot sex and with an opening for the next book.

This story starts with an interesting premise, and leads you on a wild ride that never lets up. Two cops, one Canadian, one American, each of them good at what they do, and stubborn about accepting anyone's advice (never mind another cop's), have to deal with a mysterious series of murders and a drug cartel – just for starters. And all of that in the middle of Texas – what could be hotter?Canadian detective Kieran Fox, as good as he is at going undercover and getting criminals convicted, is not as clever about making choices in his personal life. Falling for the wrong guy almost cost him his career, and he has just begun to lick his wounds when the next case comes along: this one abroad, in the US. He doesn't want to go, but he can't really stay, so he decides to jump into the assignment offered by a small town in Texas. He's got nothing better to do, right?Jubilee Mason has his personal life under control (read: he has none, since he is deeply in the closet), but his professional life is a different matter. He is trying to deal with a gang of murdering drug dealers, or drugged murderers, possibly both, and could use the help. Of course, he cannot admit that and anyway, what does a Canadian know about US law?And let's not forget the great cast of supporting characters, some hilarious, some utterly scary (I mean, a hungry alligator as a pet?), and some cute kids. Between them and the brilliant banter that keeps Kieran and Jubilee busy when they're not working, and sometimes when they are, this is a very entertaining book. It is also full of sexual tension, but the men take their time, which I really liked. If you're looking for a hot new story with some unique characters who just love to hate working together, a great mystery to solve, and some gruesome reality checks when the bad guys do their thing, then give this book a try. And the best news? This is only the first volume in a new series. From what I can see, we will be able to follow some more adventures of these two intrepid cops for quite a while to come. Yeehaw!NOTE: This book was provided by Amber Allure for the purpose of a review.

I like unusual premises and Kiernan's disasterous romantic history with a drug lord is totally unexpected for an intelligent man who's a decorated police detective. A man who definitely know better. This is just one of the many surprises I found sprinkled throughout the story. The odd combination of individuals found within it's pages is a mixture that somehow works in the skillful hands of these talented authors. I mean you have romance, kids, cops, killers, man eating alligators, and a flamboyant cross dresser. Then there's two great guys in Kiernan and Jubilee and I love how they interact with each other. It's fun, sexy, filled with tension and their bantering dialogue is very entertaining. I enjoyed the look into Jubilee's family, especially his nephews. It's a nice balance against the danger and action of the drug dealer plot thread. And as you can imagine this portion of the story is filled with lots of surprises and shocks--don't forge those alligators. So if you enjoy romance mixed crime, lots of action, danger, cute kids, drug runner, alligators and betrayal, then I suggest you give this opening release a try.

I have to admit, I liked how this first part began, it was intriguing, pulling and full of humor. Everything what pulls the reader into the story. I even liked the main storyline, in small outside town of Lone Trail, in which a city cop Kieran, comes to work for a year. But then everything in this nice compacted storyline fell apart, and that's because this melodramatic, unrealistic even fullish romance between Kieran and U.S. Marshal, Jubilee. Their sex at the end in the motel, who ever wrote this part it has A.J. Llewellyn signature in it. I bet it was her work, that's why its BAD, really BAD. I'm disappointed!

Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance I first saw a little book by the name of Orgasmic Texas Dawnshow up on the site of a publisher that shall remain nameless. I was intrigued because, well... TEXAS. Yeah, I am a glutton for Texas-based books. I never did get around to reading that book, however. I did see it grow from one book to two and then more... then they went away. They are, however, back with a new publisher. Again, I was intrigued, but let them go by without picking them up for a while. I finally caved. For Full Review see

I really enjoyed this although I am bit gutted there was no resolution towards the end and I hadn’t realised it book 1 out of 13!! Canadian Detective Kiernan Fox relocates to small town Texas after finding out he was dating a drug dealing member of the mob. Moving to such a small town is a culture shock and he spends a lot of time wondering what the hell he has agreed to.One good thing to come out of his move is tall and sexy US Marshall Jubilee Mason but Jubilee is so far in the closet he might as well be in Narnia. The two work well together and are even hotter in bed but between the mob, drug dealers and illegal hooch things are not going to be easy.

4/5 This was a fun and exciting ride. The cases presented in the story are silly, but entertaining nonetheless. (view spoiler)[ It had a dude whose cock got eaten by an alligator, you just can't simply beat that!(hide spoiler)] The few gun scenes were rewarding. Plus both of the main characters' personas were amusing - I found myself chuckling through out the book. This book was such a joy to read, so much that it easily slipped into my favorite slot. Though I found it disappointing that they glossed over it. Would have love to read more depth on it, maybe in the sequel? *shrug*

I don't know why I waited so long to read this book. I purchased it nearly a year ago.Having had to arrest his lover, Kieran is taking some time out from work. He is visited by a small Texas town sheriff and asked to come on board for a year until he sorts himself out.In Lone Trail, he meet US Marshall Jubilee, there is an instant attraction but Jubilee is in the closet.I liked this book. The pace and the 'mystery'. I liked that the guys did not act on their attraction until nearly the end of the book.Definitely will be reading more books in this series.

I'm glad there are more books in this series, cause I'm not done with these guys. I found the story slightly confusing in the very beginning, but the guys quickly started to grow on me. Yes even Dillon lol. It's hard to get my head around the extreme small country town that this is set in, but it's well enough described that I'm getting a pretty good mental picture...not a necessarily flattering one lol, but that's not necessary for the book.Kieran and Jubilee are seriously sexy... and together they make a great team. Bring the next one on!

I have to say A.J. and D.J. are my favourite authors. After enjoying 'Mingo McCloud' series, my expectations were very, very high:)Soooo, 'Orgasmic Texas' is not bad, I liked it, but to be honest I preferred the others because I had a hard time with POV switches :( but because the characters are interesting with a very enjoyable plot, I'm going to read the second book in the series.

This was sitting on my TBR shelf for a long time. I don't know why I waited so long because I loved this book. I'm looking forward to the next book and excited to see where Jubilee and Kieran's relationship goes.

First in a series, I really enjoyed this book! Great writing, lots of action! Slow buildup, which was great! Loved all the characters -main and supporting. Loved the Canadian /American angle. On to the next...

3.5 Stars - It was fun, took lots of leeway in the way of police procedure but was an entertaining story. The POV shifts would have benefited from chapter headings, there were times I wasn't sure who was talking at first.

Grand storys that of Manly and Llewellyn where the detective story is exciting and is main also respect to the love story. Kieran is a fantastic and cute character while I think that Jube can be a problem. Amazing as all their books

I enjoyed the first part of the book, but then Kieran met Jubilee and it went downhill from there. The awkward conversations between the two of them left me bewildered. Also, I couldn't disregard their inappropriate behaviour during surveillance operation or the untimely declarations of love.

Characters and place are about a 4; romance so far a 3. I can't imagine the further convolutions this series is going to take over 10+ books given how it has started.
