I picked up this book after hearing the author read a story from it at Bedpost Confessions. It's a very uneven collection of stories. The best were the more slice-of-life stories about growing up Chinese in College Station, especially the incredibly moving and beautiful final story, "Burials and Upheavals." Some of the others, though, were the absolute worst conglomeration of experimental weirdness or angst-ridden wankery, so it averages out at three stars.
