In a sentence, I'd qualify this book as worthwhile but not an essential read on the subject of justice for war crimes. I was a bit disappointed by the concentration on the politics of international humanitarian law as opposed to detailed accounts of the proceedings. Justice Goldstone skips over the finer details of amassing evidence and describes instead death threats he received and how to juggle multiple job offers. That said, the reflections on the politics involved with United Nations tribunals and the inclusion of the more dramatic elements of life as a chief prosecutor broadened my knowledge of the tribunals' activities.
