Poor Henry! “Absent-mindedness” I can understand-but I think Henry’s foundational problem is psychologically deeper than that. I enjoyed this short story-even laughed out loud at some of the imagery-but I found it next to impossible to sympathise with the protagonist. Henry really should be termed the “main character,” because the term “protagonist” implies a character who acts, who has motivations, drives, desires; and I’m afraid none of those apply to our Henry. Rather, he is “acted upon,” and by, of all things, plumbing appliances. That said, this is an enjoyable, quick read, with a moral-but don’t read it in the middle of the night if you have nightly restroom urges, please!

This is one that I guess would fall into the bizarro fiction category (a genre that, like Steam Punk, doesn't always grab me). It's about a house that slowly comes to life, with a focus on the toilet. Mercifully short, this is one that would benefit from a proofreader and an editor.
