I came across this book at the library while I was searching for some biographies of Milton Hershey. The Diary of a Milt is the fictionalized journal of a student at the Milton Hershey School in the 1970's. Smalley, a Hershey resident, wrote the book to commemorate the 100 th anniversary of the school for children at risk. Although the main character is fictionalized, the events in the book are true. An interactive book, Smalley draws the reader in by asking about their own lives. This book gives insight to life at the school with houseparents, responsibilities, accountabilities, as well as the importance of education. It is very well done.
