This book is written very well! It is also a great read. It kept me entertained for a few days. It was one of those books I wanted to read, but didn't want to read in a day. If your really into it you just might though. The book is filled with "mini" stories of many different characters. The characters somewhat... (I really mean somewhat) intertwine. The story that is going on is quite interesting. IF YOU ARE INTO ALIENS! This is a book about aliens coming to Earth. If your looking forward to learning about the aliens, keep holding your breath. I think the author is going to get to that later.

Ominous ending . . . must read The Widow and the Orphan to find out what happens next!

This was a free Kindle book and was apparently meant to be a prologue to a series the author is releasing in the fall of 2012. As a stand alone book it lacked a satisfying conclusion. However, it was free and the purpose was to get you interested in the rest of the books. I really liked where it was going but until I read the follow-up book I can't really get a grasp for how I felt about it.

I love these "end of the world" type books. In the beginning it seems like a book of short stories, but toward the end some of the characters begin to meet each other. So what do we have in this book?Survivors' facing a tough road? YesAliens? YesBlood and guts and gore? Not too badZombies? No... at least not yetVampires? No (Thank God)Can't wait to read the next book!

Interesting premise, just once again a little short for my liking. I believe that is intended as this is more of a lead in to the next book in the series which I will be getting in September. The cast of characters who survived the takeover of the world is a nice mix of storylines. Interested to see how the tennis pro develops.
