Super sigh of sweet satisfaction!Remember this song, by Bryan Adams?"When you love someone, you'll sacrificeYou'll give everything you got, and you won't think twiceYou'll risk it all, no matter what may comeWhen you love someone. You'll shoot the moon, put out the sunWhen you love someone"Those words sound so vanilla, just sitting there on the page, but with the smoky, smouldering intensity of Bryan Adams' voice and the moody dreamlike flute and piano accompaniment, they convey a powerful sense of an almost desperate yearning to be with the object of your desire. So, it's kind of awkward, to say the least, when that kind of powerful emotion hits you when you've already committed to be with someone else. And that's what happens to MC Caroline as our story opens. She's in a lovely, settled relationship with her lawyer boyfriend Clay when she gets word of the death of a friend. On her return from the funeral, she's seated, by chance, next to Jackson Parks. Maybe we should move the "s" to the front of his last name, because whoa! crazy sparks fly, and they set Caroline and Jackson's lives on fire. Like Bryan's song suggests, a love so intense and consuming has risks, and requires everything you've got. But can careful Care, the sensible girl with a plan, take a chance based on just that kind of random encounter? Especially when it's more than just her own heart at stake. This is an emotional rollercoaster of a ride. It's not enough that Caroline and Jackson have to contend with their overwhelming mutual attraction (hey, it could be worse, I guess, if it were one sided) while stuck at absolute opposite ends of the U.S., the disapproval of their well-meaning friends, and other peoples' claims to their hearts. Events won't stand still either, and require a leap of faith that might well end in disaster for one or both of them. Personally I couldn't help but fall in love with Caroline. I know that cheating is kind of a gray area at best in romance novels, and it's not clear if what Caroline does would be considered that (this is kind of a chaste romance, btw, by today's standards, although emotionally flagrant). But she's so torn between what's expected of her and what her heart can't resist that her struggles will def tug at your heartstrings. She doesn't want to be the kind of person she'd hate, who can argue with that? Fortunately she has an awesome lifeline friend, Bailey, to provide perspective, help the plot along and just generally be funny and charming. There really aren't any good guys or bad guys (although some of them pull some extremely maddening stunts), just a crew of realistically drawn characters with the flaws, foibles and occasional strengths that real folk would display. This is a charming, poignant, tender and exhilarating read. I love the way the author conveys that giddy sense of besotted, bewilderingly beautiful emotional attraction that is one of life's greatest gifts. Don't hesitate to give that gift to yourself, by reading this sweet and affecting novel asap!

READ THIS REVIEW!!!The reason for the bold-face shouty capitals is because when most readers see a 3 star rating they run screaming for the hills like a half naked big breasted woman in a horror movie! Please don't run. Have a seat and let me explain! What I find most fascinating about Chance Encounters is that it's a new adult book that reads like a YA! Raise your hand if you're an adult stuck in young adult book land. You like the way they read, but you wish the characters were at least old enough to legally purchase alcohol. Well, Chance Encounters gives you the best of both worlds. So why does fascination not get a higher rating? One of two reasons...reason number one, I'm not a big fan of "love at first sight" romance. It's incredibly hard to pull off and I'm a huge sucker for relationship anticipation, "Will they? Won't they?" Nothing compares to the sexual tension of new relationships; it builds and builds then...DAMN!!! Regardless of my personal preference, countless readers absolutely adore the concept of instant attraction and will gobble this book up in one sitting! Reason number two for not tossing in a few more stars would be Caroline and Jackson's meeting. It was awkward and in a "love at first sight" romance the meeting sets the tone for the entire relationship. That was really my only complaint; their relationship development needed more.Another thing I really liked about the book was the uniqueness of the "love triangle". The author shows us that a relationship doesn't always end just because the guy's an asshole or treats the girl bad; sometimes it's just not meant to be. You can't help who you love. Chance Encounters provided a nice vacation from the angst filled, tear me to pieces, and eff with my mind romance novels. It had just the right amount of drama to set a quick pace, but you don't feel emotionally drained after reading it. Sometimes we just need a good story! It's a great vacation/beach read!Sometimes all you want from a book is to be entertained and that's exactly what I got with Chance Encounters. Perhaps the concept was not my cup of tea (or tequila), but the writing gave me a good look at a new author and one I will for sure be keeping my eye on!BOOK-tunes for Chance Encounters available at http://toughcriticbookreviews.blogspo...

What do you do if you love the one your with – you adore them and love them with your whole heart – but then one day you meet someone who you have an instant and deep connection with? What if this person could possibly be your soulmate – the person you were meant to spend the rest of your life with. Could you just walk away? This is the question that is tearing Caroline in two. Does she stay with Clay, her boyfriend, who she loves and who she thought was her future, or does she choose Jackson, a man she met on a plane flight, who she shares a deep connection with?Caroline will have to make the heart-breaking decision of choosing between two men who love her deeply. Is it Clay or Jackson, who truly has her heart?~*~What a beautiful novel J. Sterling has written. I absolutely adored Chance Encounters. I could not stop reading; I just had to know what Caroline would decide.I loved how real this story felt; I loved the emotional roller-coaster that this novel took me on (I cried a few times) and, most of all, I loved the characters.Caroline has a good heart and she doesn’t want to hurt anyone, especially her boyfriend, but she knows that hearts are going to break. She doesn’t talk to Jackson just for the fun of it, or to intentionally hurt Clay. She just happens to meet someone who she feels a deep connection with, something she has never felt before, and she can’t ignore it. She doesn’t know what to do. Does she stay in a relationship that feels comfortable, with a man who she thought she would one day marry? Or does she give up everything to be with a man, who could possibly be everything that she didn’t know she was looking for?Helping Caroline with her decision is one of her best friends, Bailey. I just loved Bailey. She was such a beautiful friend to Caroline; she never judged her, she just offered Caroline her support, advice and, above all, her friendship. From the moment that Jackson enters Caroline’s life, it is easy to see why she developed feelings for him. I thought he was so kind and I just loved his ability to love someone so deeply. He was shocked that he could have feelings for a woman who had a boyfriend, but he just felt this pull towards Caroline. He said and did some very beautiful and romantic things during the novel.Alex was another character that I just loved. Alex was to Jackson, what Bailey was to Caroline. Alex supported his friend with such loyalty. He always had Jackson’s back. I really enjoyed their conversations and I loved their friendship.Last but certainly not least is Clay. I could certainly understand why Caroline was torn between Clay and Jackson. Clay may be a little career focused but he is a genuinely nice guy who loves Caroline, and I loved the birthday date that he arranged for her. He really is a sweetheart. There were a few times that I found myself getting slightly angry with Caroline for talking to Jackson behind Clay’s back. However, every time I found myself getting a little angry with Caroline, in that same moment, I could completely understand why she was talking to Jackson. My heart broke for Caroline, Clay and Jackson; I felt protective of them and I wanted them all to find happiness.Chance Encounters by J. Sterling is such a beautiful novel, and so respectfully told. I love how J. Sterling gets to the heart of her characters – their emotions just leap off the page. I found myself being pulled deeper and deeper into the story with each turn of the page . After I finished reading Chance Encounters, I found myself thinking about the characters for the next few hours. I couldn’t get them off my mind. This is definitely a novel that I will be reading again.Filled with both heart-breaking and uplifting moments, Chance Encounters is a beautifully told and deeply moving story, that will captivate readers.5/5*Thank you to J. Sterling for providing me with a copy of Chance Encounters to review.Review originally posted at Treasured Tales for Young Adults.

There is absolutely no shortage of amazing indie authors! In this time of digital publishing they seem to be popping up everywhere, and I absolutely positively love that. It has brought us the Nicole Williams, Tammara Webbers, Colleen Hoovers, Jamie McGuires, Liz Reinhardts, and J. Sterlings of the world! To those who don't or just won't review indie pubbed books, this is for you :P Because you are missing out!I have been reading a lot about author J. Sterling recently, especially with her attending the Chicago signing, which I am SO bummed that I will not be attending (side note, awesome giveaway going on for those of us not able to attend TFEiC, hosted at Tough Critic Book Reviews) and I knew I just had to check out her books! So, what did I do? What any self respecting broke blogger does, I emailed J. in my sweet persuasive voice and asked if she was up for me reviewing her books, and she is oh so splendid and awesome and provided me with Chance Encounters and In Dreams to review :) See my happy face! You rock J. Sterling, you freaking rock. So, onto more pressing matters like the review.I read Chance Encounters in one sitting. Yes I do that a lot, yes my husband and my dogs hate it, but I don't do it with just any book only those that require my full attention until I turn or electronically turn the last page. This book had me trapped. I couldn't set it down for fear of the characters moving on without me. Crazy? I am not! Great books will do that to you. It was hard to step away from this story even for a second. Caroline had some difficult decisions to make and I sure as heck wasn't going to miss them! The forbidden angle of this book makes the chemistry electric. The characters are instantly attracted but not only do they live forever apart, one is in a serious relationship with a genuinely nice guy.I'd put Chance Encounters into that category of this is so wrong, but it is so right. Alongside books like Emily Giffin's Something Borrowed. Cheating is wrong, but.. Ok, It's wrong. But, not to glorify or promote cheating but J. has made the perfect case, you have to read it to see for yourself. There's no physical cheating, but that emotional cheating is spread across these pages thick. This book is hot and heavy, quite steamy, a little insta-love/love at first sightish (but that's ok, I felt like that was the point), with the sexual tension and physical attraction I look for in a romance. So, am I saying read this book? Heck yes. Am I saying take it to heart? Heck no. It's a fiction, as in, read it for what it is don't get caught up in your morals, stay for a good time. Enjoy the emotions that J. will make you feel, get lost in the romance and cheer on your favorite characters (mine happened to be Tommy, and I'd love to read more about him). You'll stay for the chemistry, the puzzling "who will she choose?" and a well built love triangle.Thank you so much J. Sterling for providing a copy of your book to review!

Awww, man! This was like a sugar overdose. I am currently lying on my couch fighting away happily ever afters and thoughts of true love. Most of you know how angsty I am. I read dark, murky, slightly sick novels. I read to feel-and not necessarily to feel happy. J. Sterling has an eternally optimistic view of love and life. Caroline and Jax are clearly meant to be together and this is a novel for those who believe in true love...and maybe even those who don't. Okay, I have to go exercise myself of this happiness and bite someone... (I kind of really want that necklace)

Read more of my reviews and ramblings at Ana's Attic Sexy Tales and ToysWhile I normally dislike books where there is dishonesty and cheating, Chance Encounters by J. Sterling was different. What do you do when, even though you love your boyfriend so much, and he is the perfect mate for you, but you bump into a handsome stranger and have an instant connection like one you’ve never had before? Can you forget that sizzle and get on with your life? Or will you always wonder if perhaps you missed your soulmate?I can TOTALLY relate to this book! I met my now husband of over 20 years when I was on vacation. I had a perfect (on paper) boyfriend in college who I loved. But when I met my husband, BAM!!!! Sparks flew! (I had no idea what I was missing out on!) Still, it is hard to give up a certain, perfect sounding future for the unknown. Especially an unknown that others don’t understand.Caroline has a great life, a great boyfriend, and had no questions about her future. She loves her boyfriend and he is a great guy. Then on a cross-country plane ride, Caroline meets Jackson. Immediately they connect, in a way that neither has ever felt before. Caroline tries to go back to her life with Clay, but can’t help but stay in touch with Jackson, who lives on the other coast. They keep in touch via text, calls and e-mail; though Caroline doesn’t technically cheat on Clay, cheating of the heart isn’t much different.Caroline is scared. Her life is mapped out. She saw her future, knew what she wanted and everything was great. All of her family and friends loved Clay and would never understand why she would ever leave him. Caroline is also really nice, with a good heart. The last thing she wants to do is hurt anyone, but in being like this, she only hurts herself.“Sometimes other hearts have to break in order to keep yours intact”I read this book in one sitting. Though it sounds like a messy, dark, emotional book, it wasn’t at all. It was a light, enjoyable read that often had me smiling, despite the subject matter. I loved all the characters, and Jackson was totally swoon-worthy.I loved that the author never felt the need to vilify Clay in order to make Caroline look better. Sometimes, no matter how great the guy is, he isn’t “the one”. Yes, sometimes I got mad that she was still going on talking to one while living with the other, but I understood. How do you leave your perfect future, and a guy you truly love for the unknown?Likes:-Loved the initial meeting on the plane.-Couldn’t put it down.-I loved every character.-Bailey, Caroline’s BFF was truly a great friend.-The story was respectfully told without making anyone the bad guy.-A happy read despite being emotional (does that even make sense?)-Good epilogue.Dislikes:-The book is classified as YA. Why? The characters are way beyond college aged.Overall, I give this book 4.5 stars for story, 1 H for heat. There was no sex in this, but lots of chemistry.Definitely recommended for a summer beach read, and it’s another great indie author find.*Thank you, J. Sterling for sending me an ARC of this book to review. I was not compensated for this review.

I recently read The Perfect Game by J. Sterling and I liked it a lot. It had some issues with the plot that made me give it only 3 stars, but overall I enjoyed the characters and the writing. Not as much with Chance Encounters. I thought the first meeting between Jackson and Caroline was awkward and unrealistic. I didn't buy the progression of their relationship at all. It's also difficult to become attached to a character as unlikable as Caroline. She is constantly talking to Jackson, mooning over his gifts, swooning over his letters, but she is in a steady and committed relationship with another man that she claims to love. I have a really hard time identifying with someone who cheats for an extended period of time. No, Caroline did not have sex with Jackson, but she had a relationship with him and she continued that relationship for over half a year (until Jackson broke it off after he found out Caroline got engaged to her boyfriend). We don't get to spend much time with Jackson or really get to know him at all, but he was pretty bland. He was too perfect. I can't even think of one flaw the guy had.I think the author wrote this before The Perfect Game and her writing has definitely improved. I'll probably check out future books by her, but this one just wasn't great.

I love YA and I love contemporary romance - this book is like getting both in one. It is written in a YA style but the characters are older than your typical YA book. a.k.a This book is right up my alley.Chance Encounters is about love at first site, it's about wondering if you are with the right person, it is about taking chances, and it is about breaking hearts. I think my favorite line from the book was "Sometimes other hearts have to break in order to keep yours intact."I have been in a bit of a book slump lately, with it taking me far too long to get through a book. I started this book and finished it within 24 hrs. The story was sweet, emotional, and entertaining - the perfect mix to break my reading slump.I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that loves a love triangle, love at first sight, and a happily ever after. Can't wait to read more from Miss Sterling!

I have to first say Congrats to J. Sterling!!!! I can see where she has grown confidence in her writing and am proud to say that Chance Encounters was a wonderful read... Solid 4.5 stars. I fell in love with the Characters... Jackson especially, I felt the love, the heart break, and most especially the deep connection between all of them. I also have to give J. big props for not having Caroline physically cheat... granted she fell in love with another man while in a relationship BUT she was respectful of that relationship to avoid doing what her and Jackson both desperately wanted to do. I did at times get frustrated with Caroline because I knew who I she should be with but at the same time I understood her reason to hesitate. This was an amazing book and now has me even more enthused for more of J. Sterling's work!!!Full review to come...

Talk about a guilty pleasure book. Caroline has the perfect boyfriend...there is nothing at all wrong with Clay Matthews (J. Sterling are you a Packers fan?) or the way he loves Caroline. Even she would tell you that, before she got on a plane that is. If I was her real life friend I would be kicking her ass for even thinking about another guy while she had the perfect guy at home. Here is where the guilty pleasure kicks in though because the minute Jackson was introduced...I was hooked. Loved him, loved their chemistry, loved it all.I felt horrible for wanting her to break up with a perfect guy for some guy she met randomly on a plane that lives clear across the country, but I just couldn't help it. This story is a true follow your heart where ever it may lead you story. "Sometimes other hearts have to break in order to keep yours intact"

Review Ramblingsugh, can't.stand.the cheese-fest....wait, you're going to do, what? ...hey, this isn't so bad...I kind of like Bailey....Thomas needs to get over himself ….OMG, I can't believe these idiots...Seriously, pick up the damn phone...please stop driving me insane...aww..for like, two seconds and then we're back to super sappy.Insta-love.'Nuff said. I absolutely hated the start of the book and the rest was just okay. I liked tidbits here and there. I liked Clay and Caroline's relationship and how nice she is to him and vice versa. Some of the lines that the respective best friends deliver hit the spot. But that's about it. It just didn't work for me.

Holy…Tomatoes…&…Zucchini Batman….THIS is a love story!J. Sterling very graciously provided me with a copy of her novel to review and I can't thank her enough!Once again, J. Sterling has floored me with a novel that was so riveting I couldn’t put it down. Literally, right from the very first pages, I was feeling a connection with the characters and their circumstances. The characters have personalities of people you know. They are so realistic and likable that you can’t help but become vested in their experiences and futures. They come to life right off the page and live out the book in front of your eyes.I am lucky enough to have experienced love at first sight and can empathize with the moral and emotional dilemmas faced by the female lead character. The friends both Jackson and Caroline have surrounded themselves with are incredible supporting characters with their own depth and emotional tides. I would love to know the stories they must have to tell as well. Potential spin-offs? I can only hope so!This book is a fast-paced, emotional rollercoaster ride you never want to end. You will find yourself cheering for the main characters and then immediately pulling for the underdog because he’s, well, just SO nice! J. Sterling weaves this tale with such casual ease and wit that you very well may finish it in one sitting. I was left feeling fulfilled yet missing Caroline and Jackson within moments of the last page. While the story is fantastic, I found the characters unforgettable. As it says in the novel, sometimes you have to break other hearts to be true to your own. While I am paraphrasing a bit, this is a truth in life and a lesson we all should hope to learn. I am inspired to live every moment to its fullest and never waste a moment. Fantastic read Ms. Sterling….once again!

Title: Chance EncountersAuthor: J SterlingPage count: 236Genre: ContemporaryMy rating: 4/5Publisher: ... Published: April 2012Summary: Caroline Weber was a normal girl who thought she had her life figured out. After graduating from college in New York, she moved to San Francisco with her boyfriend, Clay. Everything in her life felt perfect. There wasn't anything she would change......until she met Jackson Parks. Is it possible that a chance meeting with a stranger can make you question EVERYTHING you thought you wanted? Caroline tries to carry on with her life as if nothing has changed...but the truth is, nothing can ever be the same. Chance Encounters is an emotional love story about trusting and following your heart, even when it's leading you down a difficult path.Sometimes other hearts have to break in order to keep yours intact. My Thoughts:So the thing that made me mad and lowered my review. How the hell can you stay with a guy if you’re in love with another. Its just not right! That irritated me the whole story and I’m glad to get it off my chest. Also thanks to the author for giving me a copy to read and review the story. Overall I liked it.The Review:The guy characters were all strong and ready to speak their minds. Caroline Weber well she was a weak and afraid. If she hadn’t told Clay what was happening during the story it would have been selfish of her, but if she had stayed with him then that be awful. I can’t say this story is your average love story, and that it has it’s kicks. Some people might prefer this better then me, but it’s just the concept of meet boy fall in love, oh wait I have a boyfriend - Now What! That keeps getting me.Where to find them;Amazon; LINKGoodreads: LINK

I feel the same way about both of J.Sterling's first two novels—the bones themselves are good ones, it's the flesh around them where problems arise. Caroline has a perfect boyfriend, but after meeting Jackson on an airplane, she's suddenly conflicted about where she really belongs. Here are my issues with this book—-The initial encounter between Caroline and Jackson was ridiculous. I rolled my eyes the entire time, which probably wasn't a great start. -With all of her books, the female lead didn't seem to win me over. There are moments where I connect with the character, but Caroline as a whole wasn't very developed. I don't like it when I'm trying to figure out why the guy is so in love with the girl. -None of the characters seemed to have backbone. (view spoiler)[Caroline says yes to a proposal, Jackson pines after Caroline despite being "Adonis" (I don't know where the author is meeting these guys, but I have yet to meet an Adonis that spends as much time pining as J.Sterling's characters do). (hide spoiler)]The good things—-Like every J.Sterling book, the plot was a good one. It just wasn't executed in a way that matched the initial idea. -Bailey and Tommy were good supporting characters. (view spoiler)[I kind of wanted Bailey to end up with Clay, did anyone else think that was going to happen? (hide spoiler)]Again, I wouldn't buy this again or recommend it to a friend, but I can definitely say J.Sterling has gotten better with her books. The Perfect Game was a major leap, I cannot wait to read her next books!

Despite the relatively lower reviews, I quite enjoyed this book a lot. The book is what it claims to be: a story about a girl who is in a long-term relationship with her boyfriend, Clay, who she previously believed was the one for her. They had everything planned out for them and didn't see any foreseeable change to their plans. Until Caroline meets Jackson, a boy she can't help but feel an instant attraction to and can't keep herself away from.I don't condone cheating at all, and although Caroline doesn't cheat physically, she definitely does emotionally, but you can definitely sense the instance attraction and pull that Jackson and Caroline feel from the very beginning, and I guess I couldn't really fault her for that.I also really like how there was nothing particularly wrong with Caroline and Clay's relationship, just that it wasn't the right one and it wasn't meant to be. Clay didn't fuck up. He wasn't a complete asshole. It wasn't like he disrespected Caroline. He just wasn't the one.And if we want to compare writing styles, I actually think the writing in this book was better than Sterling's writing in her other book, "The Perfect Game." Perhaps the storyline is a little more controversial but there are no massive screw-ups like Jack's either. It was also kind of a nice change that the attraction and relationship between Jackson and Caroline was pretty much all emotional and not physical. Nice quick read with a unique plot.

When reading YA books, I try to keep in mind the intended audience (despite my 29 years). With Chance Encounters, I didn't have to think about it! I appreciate when the action starts right away, when plot tension doesn't come half-way through the book, and CE hit the mark in that respect.I fell in love immediately with Jackson Parks, but, like our main character Caroline, I was also in love with her boyfriend Clay. The story is real, palpable, and heartbreaking. The ping-pong game between Caroline's head (wanting to keep others happy, and maintain the status quo) and heart (wanting to keep herself happy) is a struggle we have all dealt with at one time or another. The supporting characters are absolutely wonderful. Caroline and Jackson have friends that I wanted to high-five and hug throughout the novel. J. Sterling does a spectacular job of writing male characters, as well. It's not just their obvious sexuality she nails, but their emotions and idiosyncrasies. Not every male is a muscled-out meat-head with stars for eyes. Some are angry, some are confused, some are "love lovers," and it helps build depth of character in the story. The tension, the climax, and the ending were all gut-wrenching and heart-warming at the same time. This is a great YA read that I really do feel can be enjoyed by those who also enjoy the the YA mature genre.

2.5 Stars! I am really torn as to how to rate this book. 4 stars for the idea, I think this story had a lot of potential. I liked the idea of a girl who thinks she has everything she wants until she meets a stranger who she just can't get out of her mind. However I really have to say the execution of the story was more 2 stars. So I will give it 2.5!I am a huge fan of J. Sterling's bookThe Perfect Game, I absolutely loved it. So I was anxious to read more of her works. Unfortunately Chance Encounters did not impress me as much as I had hoped. Other than a few memorable lines and quotes from the MC's best friend Bailey I really didn't like the writing.I am a huge fan of love triangles but this one did nothing for me. It was a bit predictable and not totally believable. I wish I could have liked the characters more but I just could not connect to them. Having said all that I am glad I read The Perfect Game first or I am afraid I would never have picked it up after reading this one. I think this author is extremely talented I just don't think this is her best work.

I was given the opportunity by the author to read, Chance Encounters by J. Sterling. After reading the synopsis, I knew I HAD to read it. I was hooked from the very start. The story takes place in modern day New York and California and leads you on a young woman’s journey about following your heart, wherever it might lead you. I loved the main character Caroline; she is a girl who knows what she wants in life. She loves her boyfriend and then she meets Jackson, a gorgeous farm boy from Upstate New York, and they just instantly connect with each other. He understands like no one else ever has before and she’s faced with a choice that could change her life forever. I liked how the author made the story into a forbidden romance by putting Caroline in a relationship from the start. There is something about knowing that two people shouldn’t be together but seeing them just click and feeling they’re meant to be, for me anyway. I love to watch the drama unfold. These types of love stories are my favorite kind to read, whether everyone gets their happy ending or not. I can’t tell you much more without giving away the ending but I will say this was a fast read, I couldn’t put this book down. I definitely recommend it!

"Together. Forever. They had always both known it. And today was only the beginning." What do you do when you are with someone you love, but meet the person you feel like you are truly meant to be with? That is the dilemma Caroline has. After happily dating Clay for several years, fate brings Jackson into play on a flight from New York to San Francisco. From there, Caroline and Jax keep in touch for several months, falling in love and not knowing what to do about it. Until Caroline's birthday... (view spoiler)[ I was so upset with Caroline for accepting Clays proposal! Ahhh! Part of me understood, but I really wish she would have listened to what she said during Johnny's funeral at the beginning of the book and took her own advice. Jackson loved her. Clay was a good guy and didn't deserve to be hurt, but neither did Jackson and ultimately she hurt them both in a bad way... end rant lol(hide spoiler)] Then several months later an unthinkable accident happens that changes things for everyone. Overall a 5 star read for sure! Short (read in one sitting) and sweet. Caroline aggravated me at times, but overall I really liked her charachter. Her best friend Bailey was great to...Jacksonmmmm loved him! I am so happy he got his hea, because he totally deserved it :D

I just loved this book. It was so sweet! Caroline has the perfect relationship with Clay Matthews (I kept picturing yellow/green football jersey with long hair lol). Everything is the same they do they same things, he works late and she is home alone all the time, it is very secure. When a tragedy brings Caroline to NY the flight there is perfect... it is the flight back that is not so idea. Caroline is on the plane going back to California when the gorgeous man next to her pretends to be her boyfriend for the teenager next to them. The gorgeous man is Jackson. Caroline feels sparks with him that she has never felt before. They land and a part of her is missing when they leave. He tracks her down and they get closer and closer, but guilt ridden Caroline is torn better her perfect boyfriend and the perfect stranger she is drawn to. A great story of love at first sight and I just ate it up!!!!

While I had previously never read anything by Ms. Sterling I am very glad I picked up this book. This book is probably the best book I've read this month. I finished this in just a few hours and found myself staying up a little later just to finish it. The book was wonderful. I definitely understood exactly where Caroline was coming from despite having never been in her situation. It definitely makes her situation all the harder because Clay isn't a jerk. Even though this is true about Clay, I still preferred Jackson who was my favorite character in the book. The secondary characters in this book were great too. I really liked Alex and Bailey. I would love to see those two have their own books some day. I did guess the ending before it happened however it was perfect and who doesn't love a happy ending. Anyways, Wonderful job Ms. Sterling and I would recommend this book to anyone who likes YA romance.

Chance Encounters was a nice book with a decent amount of angst but not too much. The only thing I struggled with was that I did not think that the dialogue was believable. When I'm reading dialogue, I want to be able to hear it. People just don't talk like that.I did like the interactions between Jackson and his friends. I thought that was good and I was drawn to them. I actually preferred reading about them than reading Caroline lamenting with Bailey. I did think that Alex might be a little unbelievable but I liked Tommy and he certainly did redeem himself. And my heart broke for Clay. Otherwise, it was a sweet story...albeit...with it's betrayal of the heart, angst, and drama. I did choke back the tears and smiled at the end. So I'd give it 3.5 stars.

I think the premise of this book happens more often in life then people realize, yet I don't think most people have the balls to do what Caroline chose in the end. However, considering Jackson's situation that may have been what gave her that extra little nudge. Overall, this was a really sweet read. I would recommend it for anyone who thinks they are "happy" in their relationship when really they are just settling. I think everyone deserves that knock-you-off-your-feet sort of love and maybe this will give you some inspiration to find it. Don't be afraid to break a few hearts, if in the end, it means yours will be solid for a lifetime.

Jesus I loved the he'll out of this story. You can't help but put yourself in Caroline 's shoes. Could you walk away from everything and everyone bases on a feeling. A pull to another person? Although I feel a twinge of guilt for not really having any emotional reaction to Clay 's role in this, but hurt doesn't make it right. Love makes it right.Jackson was adorable and the first meeting on the flight was so sweet. This was a great story of following your heart to find your happy. No matter how.

I have to say I loved this book so much and have to thank Elis for bringing this book to my attention. Caroline and Jax have a magical meeting. They meet on a plane and sparks flew between them instantly. The problem Caroline is dating Clay. Caroline and Jax's friendship blooms over the next months but even from the beginning it was more. Their are twists and turns that keep me saying why but the ending was great and I love epilogues they make a book for me.Anyone who reads this needs to pick up the book it will not disappoint.

A quick and easy read....normally I prefer books written in the first person, but this author does a wonderful job with the third person narrative....giving all characters a voice and letting us feel their emotions in an authentic way. The attraction and connection between Caroline and Jackson was wonderful. I fell in love with them and rooted for them. Jackson was so fantastic and Caroline was wonderful, too. Highly recommend to my hopeless romantic reader friends (like myself). Will definitely read more from this author!
