I have to admit, while I was looking forward to reading Kiss of the Vampire, I was a bit nervous about the whole “dimensional” concept. It sounded like it might be a little bit on the science fiction side, and I wasn’t sure what I was going to get. However, after reading Kiss of the Vampire in one day, I am very happy to report that I really like this book and I definitely will recommend Kiss of the Vampire to paranormal readers. The setting is in the modern world, however, supernatural beings have come out of the closest and are living right alongside the human population. The supernaturals take over a human body when they arrive, and that had caused quite a bit of chaos, and still does on the occasions that the rift opens and more supernatural beings arrive. The supernaturals have their own branch of law enforcement, they police themselves. Nix is a half-human/half-demon woman is a liaison between the human law enforcement and the supernatural law enforcement and she is currently working on a case that looks like a serial killer targeting supernaturals. Nix thought her life was going alright, until the new vampire investigator shows up, her ex boyfriend, Tobias.Tobias is an old vampire and an investigator. He has been searching for the traitor who killed his king in his home dimension for centuries. The only time he ever deviated from that task was his relationship with Nix. Tobias had abruptly ended the relationship when he felt that his presence was causing Nix to turn to her demon side more and more. Not wanting to hurt Nix, he left, without much explanation. So, five years later when Tobias is assigned to the same case as Nix, sparks of both anger and lingering sexual chemistry fly.The tension between Tobias and Nix is usually broken up by the funny, quirky character, Dante. The human investigator assigned to the case. Dante and Nix are friends, and I love his character. Dante is very laid back, accepting of the supernaturals, and dedicated to his job. The dynamics between the 3 characters are intriguing and I was quite entertained. As Nix and Tobias continue to work together, they have to take steps to resolve the past, and I was thankful that this took some time. However, if I was Nix, I would have made Tobias work a little harder. I felt that she let him off just a bit too easy. The investigation and murder-mystery in Kiss of the Vampire kept the characters constantly on the move and interacting, and the mystery itself snared me deeper into the story. The story was well paced, well written, and interspersed with humor as well as drama, action, and heat. The sexual chemistry between the characters was hot and constant throughout the book. The relationship between Nix and Tobias developed at a reasonable pace, and I was very pleased with the outcome. On that note, the outcome was unexpected, but it fit.By combining romance, urban fantasy, and investigation genres into one satisfyingly solid novel, author Cynthia Garner has gained a new loyal fan. I am very much looking forward to the next installment in the Warriors of the Rift series, I can’t wait to see what comes next for the characters, especially Dante. Paranormal readers, whether you like urban fantasy or paranormal romance, I recommend reading Kiss of the Vampire, there is a little of something for everyone.*ARC provided by NetGalley for review*

Review originally posted at Ramblings From This ChickI picked up this book because it looked like it had a new and fresh spin on the paranormal world. The mythology behind everything seemed so different and unique. While this book is indeed different from others in this genre and I did love the spin the author took, I found the romance aspect of it kind of lacking.Nix and Tobias used to date and were pretty serious when all of a sudden Tobias broke up with Nix without any rhyme or reason. Nix has never been able to get over Tobias and the way he hurt her. Since he left, Nix has found ways to control her demon and has submersed herself in her work as an investigator for the council.Tobias has never been able to stop thinking about Nix and the love he has for her. By leaving he was actually trying to protect Nix. While they were together it seemed as if she was unable to take control of her demon half and once the demon takes over there is no going back to being a regular human. The person literally goes crazy and becomes completely evil. When Tobias is called in by the council to help investigate a string of gruesome vampire murders he comes face to face with Nix, the one person he was trying to avoid. At first watching these two interact with each other was exciting. There was a lot of tension and chemistry mixed in with a lot of hurt. Both are still so in love with the other but in the case of Nix, she is still so deeply wounded by Tobias leaving unexpectedly that she is just full of anger. When we get about half way into the story both characters seem to make a drastic change. All of a sudden they are both back together and everything is completely fine. Umm, hello? How did this happen? They never really even discuss what happened in the past and somehow everything is forgiven and swept under the rug. Also, both are supposed to be these tough characters but they both became so cheesy with each other. Everything became so cutesy and it embodied everything that I hate in romances. The hero constantly calls the heroine honey and the heroine becomes this drone of a woman who doesn't think for herself.I also hate the the romance seemed to take a backseat to everything else that is going on in the book. Don't get me wrong I like action and suspense in my books, but I just hate when the romance takes a backseat to it. I like there to be an equal balance. It just seemed like chapter after chapter would pass and nothing is happening. Then all of a sudden "Bam" they are couple. I feel as if I'm missing something.I'm not sure if I'll be picking up the next book in this series. While I did like this world and I do like the characters that are going to be in the next book, I'm not sure if I can deal with another story like this one. I read books for the romance and if the next one is anything like this one was I know I'll be very disappointed.**ARC provided by NetGalley**

This was an amazing intro into Cynthia Garner's world of Prets. This reminds me a little of Alexandra Ivy, but more... Many preters have come through a rift that occurs in the atmosphere when a certain comet passes by the earth. Shifters, demons, vampires & pixies (along with several other types) take over bodies of humans when they enter. Many were criminals. Tobias Caine came in after a criminal from his world, who had just assassinated another vampire...Nix de la Fuenta is half demon half human. She is working a murder scene with her partner when her ex love, Tobias Caine comes in... Together all 3 must solve the crime of the vampire slayings. This was a book of mostly world building, so I am not going to give all the info in this review. I loved the constant action and Nix always fighting her demon... I csnnot wait for the next book! This is definitely the next up and coming series to read!

My Review:For simply the entertainment value of this read, this book rated very high for me. I loved both Nix and Tobias' characters and I loved their romantic story line. The history of their ill-fated love affair was gorgeous. I loved the fact that they are both still in love with each other regardless of the fact that they broke up 5 years ago. I liked the story of the conflict with Nix being half-demon/half-human and that being around Tobias put her demon half at odd with her human half to the point where it threatened Nix's sanity. I like the relationship (both of them) between these characters and Dante. Even though he is human, I loved what he added to the story and that he wasn't automatically a hindrance with their investigation because he isn't as strong as the preternatural beings. When it came to the story, I liked pretty much everything about this book. What I didn't like though was the basis for the entire world upon which the book was built. I understand that the vampire/paranormal market is saturated and everyone is trying to find a creative new way to present their vampire stories. But I just didn't really enjoy the way that the basis for this supernatural world was created. In this world, the preternatural beings are aliens, most of them criminal aliens, who have been banned here as punishment. When they come across the rift, they occupy a body and make it their own. So not only are most of them (Tobias excluded...he came to earth chasing a criminal as a law enforcer) criminals, but they are also body snatchers. And they wonder at the not-so-friendly reception that humankind has given them since they discovered the truth about these beings? With those facts, I just have a hard time wanting to like all these preternatural characters, regardless of who they are in the story line.BUT, if I ignore all those facts that I just stated above, and pretend ignorance about the details of how the preternatural beings came to be on earth, this book is really good. Do you see my conundrum? Overall, I did really enjoy this book. There is great chemistry between Nix, Tobias, and Dante as their friend. As investigators, they make a great team with some really entertaining and funny scenes which is especially surprising with the gruesome murders that they are investigating. The suspense line was great and the resolution to the romantic conflict was a complete surprise. I do plan to read Dante's book, Secret of the Wolf, simply because I did enjoy Dante's character so much.It should be noted that Dante is human, Nix was born on earth, and Tobias came to earth as a law enforcement agent and not as a criminal. His only crime is the body-snatching part of the transition into earth, so the issues that I have with this preternatural world hardly apply to the main characters in this book. I assume that won't stay the case though as we move further into the series. It will be interesting to see if my offense over it stays especially if all the books read as good as this one did.

Just when I thought I had the paranormal universe figured out, Cynthia Garner comes out with one hell of a scenario to explain why we have vampires, demons and shapeshifters. Would you have ever thought those supernatural beings were actually aliens who skipped through a temporal rift to our world and then stole human bodies to carry on? No? Me either, but you know what...the explanation works!Nix de la Fuente, human liaison to the Council of Preternaturals, assists the police in solving crimes that involve human and supernaturals. Having been rejected by everyone that she's ever loved, she sets out to prove to that she is more than just a human/demon hybrid. It's a daily battle for her to control her demon, but she takes steps to make sure her humanity prevails. She relies on her friendship with her partner, Dante and tai chi to keep her grounded and centered. But when vampires start dying in a gruesome manner, Nix comes face to face with the one person in her past that will test her resolve to maintain her humanity as well as the hardened shell she's put around heart.Tobias Caine has returned to Scottsdale after leaving five years before. The only reason he returned was at the request of a friend, but when she's found murdered the council puts him in charge of the investigation. That puts him in direct contact with his ex, Nix. Tobias left because he was worried about his affect on Nix because her demon side was coming out more and more. Though he loved her, he thought leaving her would be for the best. Now, just being near her makes him understand that maybe he never quite gave her or them the chance they needed. He has to figure out a way to turn off his emotions towards Nix and find out who is behind the gruesome killings.Luckily for us, the love and lust Tobias and Nix have for each other is much bigger than the reasons they split. Tobias is a vampire you will be placing on your vampire boyfriend list. From the moment he "walked" in to the story, he commanded your attention. He's good at hiding his emotions, except with the one person he loves and that is what makes him so damn attractive.Nix is a tough cookie. She'd figured out a way to love herself and control her demon (wouldn't we all love to be able to control our demon??). Even when faced with having to deal with Tobias, she figured out a way to be somewhat professional while she breaking inside. It take a strong person to be able to do that, especially when you're still in love with that person.I loved the storyline with the Rift and I can't wait to see where the next story takes us. Since I'm pretty sure we haven't seen the last of Natchook, I'm sure we'll see more about the radio transmitter he was attempting to use to create another Rift. Pretty sure what he's up to is no good, but he seems to be spectacular at that.An awesome start to the series and leaves me waiting with bated breath for the next one.

3 1/2 stars"Kiss of the Vampire" by Cynthia Garner is the first of her series about the preternaturals (pejoratively known as Extra-dimensionals/EDs) who have come to Earth from another dimension through a rift which usually opens every 73 years. Beings such as vampires, fairies, werewolves, shapeshifters and demons take possession of human bodies and confer their various powers upon the shell whose owner is dispossessed. Nix de la Fuente has the distinction of being a demon/human hybrid whose mother is a specialized demon known as a succubus. She works as a liaison with the regional Council of Preternaturals and investigates various crimes by working with Detective Dante MacMillan, one of the few humans who knows that she isn't completely human. An investigation into the horrific murder of a vampire who she knew personally brings her into contact with the vampire who broke her heart five years prior. Tobias Caine is a vampire who has been tracking the assassin who killed his people's leader for many years. His decision to break off the relationship with Nix five years ago was one of the hardest things he has done in his long life and he is not sure whether he will have the strength to resist her when they are forced into close proximity while investigating the series of crimes on behalf of the council. There are many factors impeding the investigation but undermining by their own support system is not anticipated and may cause the final irreversible end to their relationship if they don't learn to trust each other. This was an interesting new twist on the origin of paranormal beings, the difficulties they could face when dealing with humans and the distrust and discrimination that being different engenders. The apparent strength and other benefits that come with paranormal powers can also cause handicaps and Nix has an interesting solution for controlling excess emotion with the use of tai chi. The sizzling carnal relationship between Nix and Tobias is contrasted with the rare bonds that Nix has formed with the human Dante and her friend Rufus and all is set against an intriguing murder investigation. A good start to an imaginative series that will continue with the tale of another colleague, Council Liaison Tori Joseph, in "Scent of the Wolf".Comment

Imagine a world where vampires, shape-shifters, werewolves and demons not only exist, but have fought for their rights to become citizens and cautiously accepted members of society. Also imagine that they aren’t mystical creatures, but instead from other worlds, only accessing Earth through a rift that opens once every generation. They enter, they take over humans to live within our forms and their agendas?Well, it depends on the creature. This is the theory behind Cynthia Garner’s Warriors of the Rift series, which begins with the clever Kiss of the Vampire. Heroine Nix de la Fuente is part human and part demon. Her mother was a succubus who loved and then destroyed her father. Nix was left to be raised by a human grandmother who despised her. This left her conflicted and terrified that the demon part of her will one day take over completely, driving her mad. The way she’s coped is to become a cop of sorts, investigating crimes that link the paranormal and human worlds. When a series of creatures, including a friend of Nix’s, are murdered, perhaps with demon involvement, her world is turned upside down. Enter Tobias Caine, a sort of rift cop sent through years ago to find a brutal assassin. He also happens to be an ex-lover of Nix’s. They are forced to work together as they look into the string of murders and of course sparks are bound to fly. But will they uncover the sinister truth behind the murders? Or will it all be too late? The book is well-written, unique and oh-so-sexy. I can’t wait to read the next in her series and highly recommend it!

Book Description:Once a generation, the rift between the paranormal world and the human world opens, allowing supernatural entities to cross. Called in to investigate a string of violent murders, special agent Tobias Caine isn't interested in rekindling his relationship with half-demon, half-human Nix de la Fuente. Yet one look and the vampire knows his need for her is as strong as ever. My Thoughts:I really enjoyed this story a great deal. I like Ms. Garner's original spin on the origin of preternaturals. In this world, Extra-Dimensional (ED) beings took possession of humans and combined their essence with the humans. That combination determined whether the ED would be a vampire, shapeshifter, demon, fairy, etc. That aspect of the story was very unique.I liked Nix and Tobias. The constant tension and attraction between them made the story very interesting. Nix's partner, MacMillian, added a humorous component to the story with his constant taunts of both characters. Nix's absentee mother and her boyfriend Luc (short for Lucifer) Demonicas were unexpected characters. Their insertion into the story wasn't necessary for this story. However, I can see them playing a role in other books in the series so Ms. Garner was likely just setting that stage.4 shiny stars and I look forward to seeing what's next in the series.Reviewed for NetGalley

I really liked this book, it’s my kind of thing – A great murder mystery with a strong paranormal theme, a nice dose of romance and a larger series plot that had me hooked from the beginning. It had all the elements of a good paranormal urban fantasy should have, murder, suspense, prejudice, twists and turns with great characters, plenty of romance with a side helping of sexy time . . . what more could a girl want? The way the preternaturals came to be on earth is quite interesting & something new and I look forward to more information and seeing how that progresses in the future. I liked the easy flow and pacing of the book making it a really easy read as we follow our main characters through their inner turmoil over the feelings they are having and the investigation of the murders. It kept me guessing nearly up to the end, I had convinced myself it was going to go one direction and it went another which rarely happens for me, I like it when that happens. This is a really good start to what I’m guessing is a new series (seen as there is a teaser chapter for book 2 at the end of the book) and I’m pleased because it was effortless to read, well written and it always had my attention, can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next. This is another sequel that will be put straight onto my ‘to be read’ list.4*s

I really enjoyed this book. It had a very interesting take on paranormal beings and how they came to be in our world. This book is easy to follow, easy to get hooked on and easy peasy all around.Tobias is wonderful, he's loyal, loving and fierce. I respected Nix and her battle to keep her demon in check. The love these two had for each other just jumped off the pages. Both made sacrifices, both are strong and determined and I just loved them. This is an easy, tense fun read with just enough of drama, action and passion. If you haven't read it, do yourself a favor and get on the band wagon, you'll be so glad you did.Highly Recommend!!

Eh. This one started off well, but it didn't last. I was very pleased by how much I was enjoying the book but then the relationship started to get a vibe to it that I didn't like. After that I kept losing interest, especially once the relationship delved into cutesy territory. *Review posted on Fiction Vixen*

Review Courtesy of Dark Faerie TalesQuick & Dirty: Enjoyable characters and dialogue but the ending felt a little lacking.Opening Sentence: In just under two years this planet will see another Influx of incorporeal beings. The Review:Nix de la Fuente is a Human liaison for the supernatural community. As part of her job, she helps investigate murders involving humans and the supernatural. Nix passes herself off as human but most of the people who know that she is a demon treat her like a ticking time bomb and don’t trust her. Half-demon, half-human spawn go insane a few years after they turn twenty and Nix is twenty-eight, long past time for her to go crazy. The only person who doesn’t look upon Nix as an evil demon is her human Detective partner Dante MacMillan but unfortunately for Dante, Nix doesn’t harbor any feelings towards him. Nix still has feelings for Tobias, her vampire lover that broke her heart five years ago.Tobias Caine believes that he left Nix five years ago for her own good, but he dumps her in a dick move. He comes back into town after receiving a message from one of his good friends. Once back in town Tobias is relegated to be in charge of solving a series of vicious vampire murders, an investigation that Nix is also working on. It doesn’t take long for the old feelings to come to light as they are trying to investigate why vampires are being murdered in such a horrendous way.One thing that I found unique about Kiss of the Vampire is how the supernatural came to be on Earth. Vampires, Demons and Shape-shifters are all ED’s, Extra Dimensional aliens that have come to Earth through a rift in space. This rift happens to coincide with a comet that passes closely to Earth every 73 years. The aliens that come through are often criminals and when these aliens come through they possess human bodies. The bodies then take on the traits of the alien that inhabits them. The alien aspect really wasn’t a huge issue in Kiss of the Vampire, it was more of a background element to the story.I have mixed feelings about Kiss of the Vampire. I liked the characters of Nix and Tobias. I really enjoyed the banter with Dante. He was my favorite character in the book, which leads me to high hopes for Secret of the Wolf. The pacing of the story is more mystery based then action to move the story along. The plot is just a basic police procedural following the clues to the murders, which leads to a nefarious plan. The final battle was full of action but I was disappointed by the ending of the main conflict. I felt like there should have been more to end the storyline, even though Nix and Tobias’ relationship does have a good stopping point.Overall, I truly enjoyed the story of Tobias and Nix. I liked the premise that the supernatural are creatures from outer space. I would like to see an alien or aliens that have just crossed over from the rift and the consequences/relationships of coming from another planet and learning to live on Earth. Because of the anti-climactic ending, I have a feeling that Kiss of the Vampire, first of a planned trilogy, would actually be better read as a series.Notable Scene:As much as she’d like to help him, she had her own six-and-a-half-foot problem to take care of. And he was coming at her again. This time, as she tried to dodge him, he latched his fingers onto her hair and held fast. She couldn’t contain a yelp of pain. He laughed and hauled her back against him, wrapping his free arm around her waist. “Looks like I got you now, girly. Game’s over.”When they had their fangs on display some vampires could talk and sound menacing, and others . . . not so much. This guy’s lisp was so pronounced he sounded like a girly-man. He was the pot calling the kettle black. And she was tired of it. No more Ms. Nice Guy from her.“Don’t call me girly,” she ground out. Knowing she needed an edge, she actively summoned her demon side, letting it burst into a full, glorious explosion of strength. Everything became tinged in yellow, her insides burned with rage. Her horn buds popped, and for once she welcomed the pain that accompanied the stretching of the skin on her forehead. She slumped against his arm, pulling him off balance. Then she reared up, slamming the back of her head into his face. He grunted, his hold loosening enough for her to pull free. As she left what felt like half her hair in his fist, she growled and spun her leg up, ramming it into his gut.He staggered back. His eyes completely black, he stared at her for a second, rage turning his face red. Blood from his bullet wounds covered the front of his white Tshirt, making it stick to his chest, and now also dripped from his nose. His tongue swept out, licking it off his lips. “You’re gonna pay for that one, girly.” His hands fisted. “You’ll die screaming for mercy.”Nix shot a quick glance over his shoulder. Tobias appeared at the top of a rise, heading her way at top speed, when he was tackled by yet another vamp. He rolled to his feet, going into a fighter’s stance as yet another vamp ran up to help his buddy. He appeared to be holding his own against the two vampires he fought – though all three showed signs of battle with blood and dirt covering them – and Dante had managed to stay out of the grasp of his vamp. She put her attention back on the bloodsucker in front of her. “You really think you can take me, akh khantu?”He bristled at being called a carrion eater. She hoped her false disdain based on a long-lived prejudice would keep his outrage amped up and hopefully cause him to make a fatal mistake. The Warriors of the Rift Series:1. Kiss of the Vampire2. Secret of the WolfFTC Advisory: Grand Central Publishing provided me with a copy of Kiss of the Vampire. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.

***original review posted at Romancing Rakes***Vampires, shifters and demons. Oh my! A fantastic start to a new paranormal series. If Law & Order ever did an episode featuring creatures that go bump in the night, this book should be the basis of it. It starts off with a gruesome murder. Like white sheet over the disemboweled body so onlookers don't throw up kind of gruesome. (Do you hear the strains of the opening theme? Yeah, you're welcome.)Nix de la Fuente serves as an investigative liaison between the preternatural Council and humans. This new death has become personal. Her ex-friend Amarinda was found gutted but no one knows who committed the crime. At the scene, Nix smells a trace of demon, lying under all the other scents. Oh, did I mention she's half demon so she's sort of living in limbo between the two worlds? Yeah, her childhood was rough. Succubi mother killed human father in throws of passion, succubi mother leaves since she's got a different kind of nurturing bone in her body, human grandmother reluctantly takes her in but can't see past the demon side of her, proves her grandmother right about her demon nature and rebels, grandmother dies and foster system didn't work out too well. Apparently love was not her thing so she decided to learn some street smarts.Anywho, up walks tall, dark and handsome who she smells before she sees. Tobias Caine is throwing off some major pheromone mojo that brings back memories of love, comfort and quite a bit of The Sexy Times. He's replaced the quadrant vampire liaison to investigate the murders. He's also on a manhunt er, vampire hunt? for a vampire that killed the leader of his planet. Somehow the killer found his way through the rift. After seeing Amarinda's body, Tobias is pissed. She had called him while he was in Alaska, telling him she needed to talk and now she's dead.Nix and Tobias must work together, along with human Detective Dante MacMillan to solve the case of The Great Vampire Killing Spree. With pressure from the Council to figure out who has it out for the vampires (be they human, vampire, demon or were) before the Killing Spree continues. Nix and Tobias' sexual tension is strong. His presence brings out the inner demon in her and the only way to push that demon back is a session of tai chi. After five years, the feelings are still there but neither wants to act on it because of the consequences for Nix. There's a lot of will they/won't they, oh my god they did!, whoa totally didn't see that one coming and where can I get one of my very own?Sidenote: Travel through the rift places the preternatural being into some random human's body. Yes, it's a case of body snatching or maybe like that show Tracker with Adrian Paul where he takes the form of an underwear model. Interesting enough, the rift opens up only every hundred years or so but someone has found a way to open a mini rift.FAVORITE QUOTE:Some people used meth. Others drank themselves into a stupor. He drug of choice was Tobias Caine. And it seemed that even after five years of sobriety, she was still as addicted as ever.***quote subject to change in finished copy***OVERALL: The action in this book is like the frickin energizer bunny. It hits the ground running and continues until the very end. A colorful cast of characters are introduced so well that you want to know more about them. Out of all the characters, Detective Dante MacMillan, a secondary character who will get his own book next, totally stole the show for me. He was funny, caring and was quite smooth with the ladies. Tobias did surprise me. Nix made him out to be some sort of jerk who just up and left her when her demon got totally out of control. But there was a purpose to his leaving and that he actually cared. He could have at least been less callous about the way he just broke their relationship off. As for the Council, there's something shifty going on and I intend to find out when the next book in this series comes along. It's like Law & Order opening sequence meets Torchwood rift activity meets a case of the body snatchers meets a touch of 'I wish I knew how to quit you' (but involving a vampire and demon instead of two cowboys).***review copy from Netgalley***

Every 73 years the Moore-Creasy-Devon Comet creates a dimensional rift as it makes its way across the solar system. When that happens supernatural being ascend upon the earth hijacking human bodies thereby taking control and surpressing the human being that once possessed it. Referred to as the Influx, it has been happening for years and no one can predict what supernatural creatures these body snatchers (aka EDs - Extra Dimensionals) will become until the full possession takes place. Some are political exiles, some have left for religious reasons, but the majority were banned from their world for being criminals of the worst kind. Many see this as their second chance and attempt to reform and meld into society while others don't wish to give up their bad habits. It's the latter that the Council of Preternaturals hope to stop.Nix de la Fuentes is one of the liaisons between the authorities and the Council of Preternaturals. She's part human and part demon which satisfies both sides of the spectrum. The politically correct term for what she is, is a hybrid and the incorrect term being half-breed. Nix has been called to the scene of a crime scene, the second in as many days. Someone appears to be targeting vampires and the kill methods suggests a preternatural was probably involved, but she's learned over the years never to assume anything without the proper evidence. Her job is to determine whether humans were involved. What she finds when she gets to the scene, is that an old friend she'd lost touch with is the victim. To make matters worse, her old flame, Tobais, whom she hasn't seen since he walked out of her life, is the liaison between the vampires and the Council of Preternaturals. Some days make you wonder why you even bothered to get up.The world building Ms. Garner has done is phenomenal. While not every question I have has been answered, this is only the first in a brand new series so I'll remain patient and cross my fingers all will be answered eventually. With a quick pace and plenty of action, drama, and suspense, I couldn't put the book down until I'd finished the last page. *sigh* I love it when that happens.Nix has not lead an easy life. Her father was a human and her mother a demon. It was her mother who inadvertently killed her father. She is what we would term a succubus and she sort of sucked the life force out of him while in the throws of passion. Oops! Don't you hate it when that happens? *smirk* Her mother abandoned her to her paternal grandmother who hated her. Nothing could tame the hostility her grandmother felt toward her demon spawned grandchild. Eventually Nix gave up trying to win her grandmother's love and became the difficult child her grandmother preordained her to be. That eventually lead to her living on the streets and gaining her street smarts and pickpocketing skills. Get her mad and she sprouts horns and a temper which can skyrocket to an astronomical level. Most human/demon hybrids Nix's age have lost their grip on reality and have gone insane.Tobias Caine is a vampire who isn't like the other EDs. He came through the rift in pursuit of the criminal who assassinated his leader. He's been tracking his suspect for over a hundred years and plans to return to his home once he's apprehended him. Five years ago he broke things off with Nix. He never told her the real reason he did it.Favorite quotes:- "Vows are sacred. If you're not happy in you marriage, get out of it before you start...spreading the joy."- "If you two are done with your bromance, can we maybe get some work done?" She looked at Dante. "I thought it was women who were supposed to be turned on by a guy's car?"I am truly loving the characters and world Ms. Garner created. I liked the politics and prejudices that went on within that world. I loved how vampires emitted pheromones which could cause a girl's toes to curl without a single touch. It made me smile. The attraction between Tobias and Nix was undeniable and on the Lisarenee Romance Rating Scale, scored a STEAM rating--too hot for a fan, but you still have a handle on things. You should use extreme caution when reading a book with this rating in public. People may inquire as to why you looked flustered and flushed. Overall, I gave this one 5 of 5 roses. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. To read more of my reviews, please visit my blog at www.seducedbyabook.com

So I picked this book up not really knowing what to expect. I knew that it's a PR....but not much else. The story line read like a typical PR....so I thought I would throw in a light read between the dark UF series I read. I did not expect to like this book as much as I do.Characters....Nix is a half demon living in a world where no one really likes demons....so she plays up her human side and tries to keep the demon at bay. She is a very strong female lead, but not afraid to be emotional. That is a plus for me....most female leads either whine too much or they are so stoic they couldn't shed a tear if they tried. It's hard to find a good middle ground in PR's. Other characteristics of Nix....she is kind, caring, focused, determined, stubborn, loyal, loving and has a really bad temper. She is written more as a regular person than most paranormal heroines are. I liked that....she seemed more realistic. Tobias is the lead male and he is a vampire. He is not as likable as Nix in my opinion. I think it is because he comes off too much as an Alpha Male. Don't get me wrong, I like me some Alpha Males....but it seems that is all there is in PR's. For once, I would like to see someone a little more....I don't know.....normal? Back to Tobias.....His characteristics are strong, focused, determined, kind, loving and completely dominant in every situation. He makes it known to everyone that he is in charge of this investigation and do not cross him. It almost seems like that ones that are supposed to be in charge of him really aren't. He is the typical dominant man. He does, however, have some soft, tender and emotional moments.....but it seems out of place for him. It also grated on my nerves every time he called Nix honey. It just didn't sound right coming from him....and he said it in like every other sentence when he was talking to her. Redundant much? Dante is a detective with the human police force. He has been working with Nix on several cases for a little over a month now...and he has a huge crush on her. He knows what she is a doesn't care. He is kind, funny, strong, determined and very loyal. Honestly....I would have rather seen a relationship with him...but I think he gets his romance in the next book.Nix and Tobias' relationship....Nix explains that they dated for a year and then Tobias just left her out of nowhere. It is 5 years later and she is still hurt and confused. Things only get worse when he arrives back in town to help with a case she and Dante are on. She tries to act relaxed and normal...but her emotions are twisted up over him and she keeps working herself into a frenzy that in turn triggers her demon side. So she is a walking ball of turmoil trying to keep herself in line. For Tobias, he keeps trying to play it cool too but it isn't working out for him either. He is just as emotionally messed up as Nix and can't hold it in any longer. Finally, Tobias gives in and makes a move and the dance begins. It is back and forth between them....He doesn't want to trigger her demoness, and she doesn't want to have her heart broken again. Eventually...as planned...they come together and decide they'll find a way to work things out in the end.Plot....Vampires are being murdered.....every day. There doesn't seem to be any link between each victim....but things just aren't adding up. Tobias, Nix and Dante are out together, hunting for information and not having much luck at all. Of course, a convenient little tip comes their way and things start adding up quickly. So it is a hunt to find out why these vamps are being killed and who it behind it all. While hunting down the baddie, one member of this Scooby Gang gets seriously injured and life hangs in the balance. So, the race is on and it is a long road to the finish line for this crew.Overall....This was not a bad story all in all. No, I didn't partiularly like the male lead....but I don't really have any say so in that department. He was at least tolerable. The mystery was what kept me page turning. It was written really well....even though that little tip came a little too easily and with a lot of perfect timing. Either way, it was a good in between read for me. I will get the next book if Dante is the lead male....he was just too precious :)

Ayliss: Well, well, well il punto è: siamo sicure che i cari preternatural siano come il tizio in copertina?

Nix is a hybrid, half demon/half human, working for the council of Preternaturals as the human liaison. When attacks on vampires brings back her old flame, Tobias, she isn’t sure whether she hates him, or wants to just rip off his clothes and have her way with him. Tobias hasn’t seen Nix in five years, and the only reason he left was because he felt that it was the only way to save her sanity from her conflicting demon side. He thinks he can stay strong, not tempt her demon to come out and play, but in such tight quarters as looking for a murderer, things do not always go as planned. As secrets are revealed, and friends and enemies take their places in this game of life or death, will Nix and Tobias survive long enough to be together, or is forever too much to ask?Every now and then, you read a book that accomplishes all that you need a book to do. I mean, I read books all the time, and really I read for specific reasons. It is what I do for fun, to relieve stress, and to just plain get away from the real world. And this book accomplished all three of those requirements. In this first book in the series Warriors of the Rift, Cynthia Garner creates a great spin on the preternaturals that we knew, loved and feared. Here we find out that preternaturals are not actually from Earth, but rather from another dimension, and they take over human bodies. To top it all off, we discover, that the preternaturals have “come out of the closet” so to speak, and the world is not only aware of them, but they know how they arrive: Through the rift every 73 years or so. Nix is a great character. With all her baggage of her childhood, you can’t help but want her to win, to show that she can. Because she is part demon, she faces so much bias and discrimination; sometimes you would think that it would just be easier to forget about being half demon. Unfortunately, she is already walking a tight line, as most hybrid human/demon children go crazy in their early twenties. She is now in her late twenties and is constantly worrying about loosing her sanity, her humanity. Then there is Tobias. He is the epitome of a great male character: gentleman, lover, protector, and just plan stupid at times (didn’t see that one coming did you?). He makes decisions to protect Nix, without consulting her… It is why they were separated for five years, because he felt that it was because of him that she would loose her sanity. Honestly, you want him to protect you, because you know that it is done in love. With some great supporting characters, and some really funny scenes with Nix scrambling to do some tai chi, you can count on some humorous points mixed in with the blood, guts, and romance. I must say, I really liked this book. With the mystery of why there seems to be a vampire serial killer, the romance between Nix and Tobias, and the action scenes between any of the preternaturals, you just can’t help enjoying yourself as you read it. Only point that I think might have helped was something other than the “editorial” to introduce the preternatural story. I mean, it was good introduction, but I think that there could have been a better one, maybe with a bit more explanation of vampires or demons. Overall, I highly recommend this book, and I’m looking forward to reading more in this series.

Kiss of the VampireCynthia GarnerJanuary 4, 2012Hachette BookGroup, Grand Central Publishing: Imprint-Forever January 31, 2012Original post at: http://fangswandsandfairydust.blogspo... This book ties Supernatural creatures and science fiction up in one nice neat package. The theory is that a comet allows, and has for milennia, a rift to open between another dimension and Earth. Beings go through or are pushed through the dimension and take the bodies of other beings. All types of paranormals do this.I am not sure how well the theory behind this Urban Fantasy has been thought out by the author. Some is laid out and I think other aspects will develop as the series does.I enjoyed the individual characters. Nix, is half-human and half-demon; a group that usually goes insane as one side fights the other. Dante is a fully human police detective, and Tobias is a vampire working for the Paranormal Council which is highly political and corrupt. He is around 2,000 years old. Nix is in her late twenties. They were lovers but he abandoned her five years prior to help preserve her humanity. Dante is their side kick. Although at a few points in the book they refer to him being no match for any preternatural, they leave him on his own to fight it out. and he prevails.Aside from my disbelief that a man of Tobias' age would be interested in a 23 year-old, the relationship is on nothing other than sex. When they see each other after five years their initial reactions are first sexual. Then hers becomes anger. When they see each other throughout the book there is very little reason other than sexual chemistry to connect them. The sex is also somewhat crudely written.I did like how Tobias is not described as the most perfect or handsome man ever. He is described as delectable and well-muscled, but no where does the author call him perfect or describe his clothes in detail. That is refreshing!Additonally, I was annoyed by the constant repetition of back story, almost at the start of each chapter. We constantly learn how Nix's mother was terrible, how her grandmother threw away gifts NIx made her. Either the author is padding the story is is using a public speaking technique of "Tell them what you are going to tell them and then tell them what you told them." In public speaking it is helpful because people don't always have a text to refer back to. In a work of fiction it is just redundant.I think the series shows promise. It's an interesting idea, but there has to be more to a relationship than penis size and a little more development for the world-building as well. The council seems really one-dimensional; I would like to see more of the councilors who are not biased and aggressively judgmental. At times I felt that the author was modeling the story and characters on Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series and at others on the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. But, both series are part of the genre's building blocks, so it's pretty natural. I would like to know if others see parallels.Since the concept is interesting, I reserve judgment on recommending this until I see where the series goes.EXCERPTBoth the author's and publisher's sites have a lot of great information, are well-designed and filled with extras.

Cynthia Garner puts a new twist on the supernatural with this first installment in her Warriors of the Rift series. In this world, vampires, shifters, and even demons were all once humans. But through a rift in space, the essence of otherworldly beings took over their bodies and now use them as vessels. The extra-terrestrial energies convert them into the preternatural creatures of legend.Nix is a demon hybrid: with one demon and one human parent. Her life is a constant struggle to suppress her demon side and hold on to her sanity. She works as a liaison between human law enforcement and the supernatural council. As the story begins, she is investigating the deaths of two vampires. She realizes one of the victims was an old friend, just as her ex-boyfriend shows up as a special investigator on the scene. Nix loved Tobias, but he walked out on her five years ago and never looked back. Seeing him shakes her control and leaves her angry and heartbroken all over again. What Nix doesn't know is that Tobias never stopped loving her, but he left her for noble reasons. Now they must both fight their feelings for one another as they work to figure out who is behind the continuing killing spree. As the murders point the finger at a bigger conspiracy, they are left wondering who they can trust --and what the killer's end game really is.I liked the concept of book and I liked Nix as a main character. She is strong and determined to overcome the obstacles she faces. But it was hard to watch the way she is rejected and betrayed over and over again. I found myself fixated on the mechanics of hybridization inside the rules of the world building. It just didn't click in my mind that the otherworldly-essence would pass on to a child. That bothered me. It also bothered me that almost all of the preternatural characters are ancient, but I felt very little gravitas from any of them. They didn't feel hundreds or thousands of years old. They felt just like traditional supes. Plus --I just didn't feel like the idea of their displaced consciousness was explored the way it needed to be. Who and what were they as individuals before the rift? Mostly criminals, I gather. But it's just so sweepingly vague.I also have to question what draws a 2000 year-old being, hyper-focused on a vengeance mission, to a 23 year-old girl. We have few details on Tobias and Nix's backstory. I never really got why they were in love. They're hot in the sack, and he calls her "honey" ALOT, but beyond that, I only know they are in love because the author told me.The book isn't bad, but all of my issues with it, kept me from really connecting with it or becoming invested in the characters. I will give it credit, though, for trying something new and for not going the predictable route with the killer. Almost 3 stars. *ARC Provided by NetGalley

Kiss of the Vampire is exceedingly slow to get going, the suspense back plot and the former lovers poised on the brink of rekindling the flame has potential, but initially there isn't a great deal of build up in the investigation or of romantic tension, and both parts of the story take well in to the second half of the book to finally gain some momentum. While investigating of series of brutal murders of supernaturals Nix de la Fuente hybrid half demon/human - born not possessed – will be forced to work closely with Tobias Caine the vampire who loved her and left her five years ago.Things that worked for me: I really liked the secondary character, Dante who is the human cop working on the case with Nix and Tobias - I liked Dante's sense of humor and so I am glad to see that he takes the lead in the next book. I thought that the different take on origins of paranormal species had potential - paranormal creatures are actually criminals who were disembodied for their crimes and their essence forced through a periodic dimensional rift into our world where they possess a dead or dying humans. For reasons unknown, some of theses extra-dimensionals (EDs) become vampires, or shape shifters or elves or demons or other supernatural creatures.Things that worked less well for me: the development of the romance felt really forced, there was a tendency to toss in minutia – I don't care much about bedroom décor in the midst of a love scene – and Nix especially has lusty thoughts at really inappropriate times – at the scene of a friends murder - and the leads actually making out just minutes after leaving the scene of a brutal murder was pretty bad too. Also I had questions about the world that weren't answered – since demons are created by EDs possessing a human, how do they end up with half human children?Bottom line? Once things finally get going and the pair finally start uncovering the reason for the murders and decide to give each other another chance, the story does finish well and I give the author Cynthia Garner, who also writes as Sherrill Quinn, credit for trying to offer a new spin on the origins of supernaturals, even though there are a few kinks to work out for the next Rift Warriors book, Secret of the Wolf.ARC provided by NetGalleyArc provided by NetGalley

KISS of the VAMPIRE by Cynthia GarnerWarriors of the Rift Series02/12 - Grand Central Publishing - Mass Market Paperback, 352 pagesDoes our past have to cloud any future we have together?Being an enforcement officer under all circumstances is tough. For Nix de la Fuente she lives in a time where vampires, demons, and all sorts of creatures of the day and night roam. She is half-demon herself so her position is a help and a hindrance because not everyone trusts the non-human breed. Nix finds herself even further complicated at a crime scene when her former lover Tobias Caine, Vampire Liaison shows up.Nix has shown she can control her demon except when Tobias shows up then all she can think about is the feel of her fingers as they brush against his skin. He ran from her five years ago and now coming back is going to complicate everything unless she gets a handle on her passion, which never happened before. The murder they stand at now is the second attack where the victim was eviscerated. These murders have not been done by a human leading everyone to wonder who could have taken down a vampire. Tobias and Nix have to work together to figure out who or what is doing this, establish a motive, and stop the mayhem before another creature is killed. To further muddy the waters there is someone or something that has opened a small rift between dimensions. This is being used to send cryptic radio transmissions and perhaps more nefarious things no one wants to talk about. Tobias and Nix have a past full of secrets but a present that seems to show they have each grown into better more controlled people. The desire to solve the crime is as strong as the need to be in each other’s arms and let the tenderness of their relationship smooth out the rough edges. They are determined to find the mysterious mechanism everyone seems to want so badly and figure out its’ power in all dimensions. This book starts with a full-on blast of fascinating characters and an unbelievably amazing storyline and never stops going. The reader will love the interaction with all the characters because it is so well written you understand everyone’s dynamics to the story. This is something only a great author like Ms. Garner can do and do well. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

Every 73 years a comet passes by the earth causing a rift between dimensions, and the Extra-Dimensional (ED) beings would push their criminals through the rift as punishment for their crimes, not even knowing or caring where they would end up. (Making Earth the Australia of the universe.)The only exception to this is Tobias Caine, who was a secret service agent who followed the assassin of their king through the rift. Now Tobias is a vampire special investor to the Council of Preternaturals. He has returned to Arizona after a phone call from an old friend who needs his help. Only he returns a day too late, and his friend is among those killed in a series of vampire slayings. The Council has assigned him to find out and stop whoever it is that is able to kill a vampire, the most dangerous of the preternaturals. Arizona is the last place that Tobias wants to be. When he left five years ago, he needed to get away from Nix de la Fuente, the beauty that stole his heart. Nix is half-human, half-demon, and Tobias’s vampire nature would bring out her demon side. Since that usually leads to insanity in the half breeds, Tobias knew he had to stay away from her for her own good. The time of the comet’s arrival is quickly approaching again, and humans are not happy knowing there will soon be another influx of the stronger preternatals. Five years after Tobias left town, Nix is now the human liaison to the Council, and she has been assigned to this vampire killings in case the killings are being done by disgruntled humans. She is not happy when Tobias walks onto her crime scene. She has finally moved on from her heartbreak, or so she hopes, but she is not ready to spend the time with Tobias necessary to solve this case. While they investigate they slayings, they will also delve into the issues of their past and hopefully they can move on to the future. This was a well written story, and the characters were very enjoyable, including Nix’s full-human partner, Dante. My one complaint is that the story seemed to end abruptly. Although the who and whys of the vampire slayings are given by the end of the story, there were still many issues that I felt were not addressed before the end of the story. This appears to be book one of a series and I hope that it will simply be a continuing investigation.See more at http://ebookobsessed.com

Yet one look and the vampire knows his need for her is as strong as ever.Review:Nix is an interesting mix of demon and human, she must fight her demon side into submission everyday in order to keep her sanity. Tobias is a very old vampire...Cynthia Garner has created 2 very likable main characters who could have been angst ridden and depressing but her use of common sense and humor has made these characters connect with the reader emotionally. The sexual tension felt throughout the book makes even the most hardened PNR fan shiver. Nix borders on feeling sorry for herself because of her loveless childhood but CG only skims that depression and doesn't allow Nix to wallow in it. Tobias comes across as controlling as only a very old vampire can be but again CG tempers that with a realization that Nix is a strong female and can think for herself. CG's secondary character of Dante MacMillan is wonderful, his humor and irreverence bring a lighter feel to the story and blends well with both Nix and Tobias's personalities.I loved the creation of the world in this novel. Cynthia Garner's take on how preternatural beings coming to earth is unique and it in it self feels almost like a character in the book . The plot moves quickly and has enough action to counter balance the romance and makes this a great read for everyone. If Cynthia Garner can build on the strengths of this novel, the series will become a force to be reckoned with in the Paranormal romance market.A sold 4 out of 5 stars for this up and coming author with her unique characters blend of action and romance. I put this in the *must buy now* side of the 'to be read' ledger.Reviewed for Netgalley viewed on GoodReads Posted Feb 16,2012♦

*Spoilers*Well let me start by saying I was lucky enough to score an advanced copy of Kiss of the Vampire in order to participate in Forever's Paranormal Blog tour. Since I am a fan of both Urban fantasy/paranormal and Sci-fi in general I was excited to jump right into this novel. Check out my blog for an author interview.http://www.wolfmajick.blogspot.com/In Garner's world a rift between our dimension and another opens every 83 years letting beings slip in and inhabit normal human bodies. Theses beings are what we call vampires, shifters, demons and the like. I have to say this is actually a pretty thought provoking take on the way theses creatures could appear on earth. Since this the first book in her new series Garner has taken some extra time to explain this to the reader. As the story opens we find ourselves at a crime scene with half human/half demon liaison Nix. Nix is the human Liaison for the Council of Preternaturals, a group in charge of governing the Preternaturals here on earth. Her job is to work with human detectives to resolve human/preternatural problems.Nix has her job made even harder by the fact that her old flame (who dumped her) has returned to help solve a string of vampire murders. Things heat up between Nix and Tobias, sometimes bad, sometimes good as they and Dante try to get to the bottom of the killings.Garner has created an exciting world in her new series and I am definitely looking forward to the next one, Secret of the wolf. I was also excited to see that Dante will be appearing in the next book. Even though his character is not a love interest in Kiss of the Vampire, I really enjoyed him. It does help that he has the same kind of horses I have and drives a 4X4, an easy way into my heart. I hope he has better luck romancing a werewolf than he did with a half demon.Overall I thought this was a truly enjoyable read. I will warn you though, there was plenty of adult content so this should be an adult only read.

REVIEW: This review has been posted on my blog: http://www.thepararomanceclub.blogspo...I must admit that anything that includes the paranormal and romance in it, sign me on board! So you can imagine how many different 'Vampire' books I have read over the years and a lot of them aren't really worth a mention... but this definitely is! Sexy, dark, with a crime mystery right in the middle- definitely not your average run-of-the-mill Paranormal. Nix, as a heroine, is tough, kick-ass and really gorgeous to read. I liked the fact that she was complex and vulnerable but also knew how to take care of herself. But... Tobias! Two words- Absolutely amazing! I think what I found sexy about him was the fact that he was so devoted to the law and being good! I mean I love my bad-boys *rolls eyes, who doesn't?* but at the end of the day for me, it's the guy who you know will do everything to protect you and won't mess you around that I want to go home to. And that is exactly who Tobias is. The relationship between him and Nix was difficult to read at times because they have so much history between them that needs to enfold and then I didn't think enough happened in the present between them to completely satisfy me. Except the things that did happen, boy-oh-boy are you in for a ride! Hot, passionate and down-right dirty at times * SPOILER thinking of a particular scene that involves a lot of danger and... some other things as well*. I also really liked the plot, the unusual history of the paranormals in the story really intrigued me. However I have no idea where the story is going to go now but it's all about the journey.Overall, a book you will definitely enjoy and I can't wait to get my hands on the second book! So thanks netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for ARC!

It was okay can't say that i didn't enjoy it. The setting is in our modern word. The Rift allows Extra-Dimensionals or aliens to enter our world from the Other Dimension, and is caused by a comet passing near Earth every 73 years and in 2 years Earth is about to see influx of the Extra-Dimensionals.Those Supernatural creatures takes over a human body when they arrive they ''take over'' human bodies and they ''transform'' them into vampires, demons, shapeshifters, creating a chaos among to the human population.Ofcource those supernatural creatures right alongside the human population, they have their own law enforcement and they police their shelf. Nix is a half demon and half-human and she is a liaison between the local police authorities and the Council of Preternaturals. When a second person found murdered Nix and her partner are called to the crime scene.Tobias is a vampire and a liaison working for the Councin too.He has been searching for the traitor who killed his king in his home dimension for centuries. The only time he ever deviated from that task was his relationship with Nix when he ended it which made Nix to wonder what happens between them since he didn't gave any explanations to her.Dante is the human investigator they assigned him to this case. He and Nix are friends and to be honest i like his character a lot more than Tobias and even Nix.He is funny laid back, accept the supernatural and love his job.The book was nice to make me keep reading. It is a combination of crime mystery with romance and urban fantasy.ARC courtesy of Grand Central Publishing via NetGalley

Together, they face passion, danger, murder, and a chance to save the world of humans, demons, vampires, shapeshifters, from an evil that could destroy them all. A must read. Written with depth,a twist or two, complex plot and a cast of characters who are strong, determined, and passion. This is an author to watch for and a series to be on guard for in the future. I was lucky enough to read an advance copy of this paranormal romance/mystery. This is my first encounter with Ms. Garner's work and I am looking forward to reading more from her. This is the first in a series that involves vampires, demons, werewolves and pixies among other things. Alternate dimensions as well. The protagonist is half human and half demon and her issues with that are prominent in the book. She (Nix) also is the human liaison to the preternatural council - basically a cop. She and her human partner Dante ( can' t wait to read more about him in book 2!) are investigating a string of murders in the prernatural community. Nix's ex boyfriend, vampire Tobias, is also involved. The background on Tobias and how he came to be in this world were interesting and I hope we get more on that in future books. The sex scenes were scorching hot and the ending left me wanting more. An enjoyable read nd one I would recommend for fans of this genre. This review will also be posted at netgalley.com.

Kiss of the vampire Book ReviewMs Garner creates a world in which Alternate dimensions, vampires and other paranormals are soon becoming the norm. With interesting back stories and even more interesting futures ahead Garner keeps the readers wanting more. In the first in the series we see a host of preternatural beings. The protagonist Nix is half human and demon struggling both of these sides is a decidedly hard job not including being the preternatural liaison to the council. When a string of murders in the preternatural community put the heat on Nix and her human partner Dante the council call in reinforcements. Nix’s ex-boyfriend Tobias, the scorching hot vampire who made her so easily lose control of her body and Demon, tenuously holding on to her sanity he left “for her own good” . Tobias and Nix’s relationship is passion filled with hot love making and even hotter story lines I will eagerly be awaiting the next addition in this new series.
