When I said old-school Nora, I meant it. This book was published in 1983, but aside from a few little things (who wears teddys and stockings anymore?) you'd never know it. Nora is as timeless as love itself. Nora's heroes are often so damn nice, but this guy had some mystery and rage going on too, so it was a good switch. If you're into illusions or magic at all, you'll have a great time with this book. Hooray for Nora!

OMFG I'm so done. I can't stand to read another one of these Language of Love books. These stories from the 1980s started out fresh and tender, now they're sickly sweet and all the things I hate are the things that are showing up in every. single. story. I give up.

I was actually quite surprised to enjoy this book. It's the first true "romance" novel i've ever read as I felt it's important to expand my horizons occasionally. I chose Nora Roberts as i'm already a big fan of the J.D. Robb books and figured if there were any romance author I was likely to enjoy, it would be her.It wasn't an amazing story; it took some time to get used to the somewhat lowered stakes compared to books I usually read, it occasionally tended to the histrionic - particularly the protagonist's over-the-top reactions in some cases, and one in particular. The book itself was quite short, which no doubt added to the feeling of "rapid escalation" that may well excusable as a trope of the genre; someone more experience than I would have to weigh in there. It seemed to me however that the two main protagonists went from strangers to "oh-my-god-obsessed-how-can-I-live-without-them" with all the speed of a supercar reaching 60.Still, the characters were interesting, the erotic content well-handled and the overall story kept me entertained. I'm quite satisfied with the experiment.

I was very disappointed in this book. I have read Nora Roberts before. I know that she is the queen of the chicklit novel. But ususally there is a semblance of plot, a bit of mystery. Not with this one. It centers around a magician named Pierce, of course, brooding and mysterious, and Ryan, a young lovely producer, who works for her unattentive father. Well, right off the bat, the chemistry between the two characters ignites. And before you can say "jack rabbit," they are in bed. Any professionalism in either character's careers is out the window. The source of the conflict boiled down to whether she could face the magician doing a seriously dangerous trick, and whether her father would trust her judgment. Then they made love every four or five pages. I listened to this in the car....and listening to that many passionate scenes as I rolled into the college parking lot....not comfortable.

Vintage Nora Roberts -It's an 80's romance but still a great story about a tough female executive who is producing a live show for a magician. They fall in love but then the Hero saves the scariest escape for the broadcast and the Heroine knows he could die if it fails and doesn't feel she could live on the edge with his career.

oh boy. I wish I had read this when I was in high school, my younger self would have enjoyed it more than I did now. I love Nora Roberts, but this was too....Harlequin romancy for me.

This is your typical 80’s romance with high passion, a brooding hero, and generous heroine. I’ve always been fascinated by magicians so I enjoyed that this book was all about magic and illusions. I wish we could have gotten some of the secrets behind the tricks because I just want to know. Bess and Link were wonderful side characters!Ryan was a great heroine with strength and passion for her work. She might have bent to all of Pierce’s whims but she still knows how to stand up for herself. Pierce was a little too rigid in his ways for me. I will concede that he was to be expected for a hero from the 80’s but it doesn’t really work for me. Compromise isn’t really in his nature and instead Ryan does all the compromising.Find this and more on my blog:Happily Ever After Book Nerd

Ryan Swan is planning on producing a magic show for television with the very talented and very enigmatic magician, Pierce Atkins. From the start, the chemistry between them is riveting, but neither is willing to trust very easily. And as much as Ryan is willing to put her heart on the line, she’s not sure she can put up with the risks that Pierce takes and that risk of losing him. This was a bit too short to be really developed. Pierce felt too mysterious and given how little he actually told Ryan about himself, it was difficult to buy into a nice, trusting relationship. Especially when it came to the end and their little disagreement. Pierce’s reasons probably would have been a lot stronger if he’d made it clear to Ryan (and teh reader) why he HAD to take the risks he did. As it was, I couldn’t figure why he stuck to his guns like that, especially in the face of losing the woman he loved. Still, I liked the characters and the magic.

A friend called the hero of this book a sort of proto-Roarke, and i have to say that I agree. Pierce is a mysterious magician who came from an extremely abusive and troubled childhood and has turned himself into a super-duper success.Ryan, the heroine, has grown up in the shadow of her powerful Hollywood-producer father, and has spent her whole life trying to prove to him that she can be a successful producer in her own right. How Ryan and Pierce come together and still manage to keep their own identities is the key to this great romance. An early example of Nora Roberts at her best.

udah punya lama tapi baru kesempatan baca sekarang. Bagus menurut aku. Jadi cukup 4 bintang aja deh ^^

Tipikal cerita harlequin: 30% cerita keseluruhan & 70% cerita "plusplis". Sebenarnya saya bukan pencinta seri harlequin, tp beberapa yg saya baca yaa ratenya kira2 kayak gini.

Just awful. I picked this up thinking it was another author apparently. It was shelved in the Mystery section of a used bookstore. It clearly should have been in the Vapid Breathless Romance section instead. I would have never finished it but it was on a car ride while bored. I could try to think of something positive to say about it but the only thing that comes to mind is that it does count as one of my fifty books to read this year and the foul taste of it lingers urging me to complete the next book more expediently.

THIS MAGIC MOMENT - GRoberts, Nora - standaloneIf only Ryan Swan could believe in magic. For how is she ever to know if the love of the mysterious magician Pierce Atkins is real enough to last a lifetime, or if it's just an illusion she's conjured up herself? A magician and a TV producer. Roberts writes wonderful characters, dialogue, and love scenes. This was just a bit light for me, however.

Pierce Atkins is more than just a magician. Defying death, playing with fire, or charming children with magic milk he sets out to win. Ryan Swan finds that Pierce is a magician that is all heart, but she does not believe she can risk her heart while he risks his own life to entertain others.A nice flowing tale.

Kelihatannya NR salah satu penggemar Houdini.

it wasn't bad, but wasn't that good either.although i like the hero character, Pierce, and his friendship with Bess and Lind. Lind was my favorite character in this big yet so cute.I like the looseness of Ryan, how she doesn't afraid to show his affection to Pierce. But the conflict is not well built, i don't feel the tension.and it ended pretty easy.but a well read, though.

This book was part of Roberts's Mysterious collection. I read over half the novel and then decided I had dedicated too much time to what I found to be too much fluff with not enough plot. However, I am not a big fan of the romance genre and didn't read any of the other novels in the collection.

Obviously one of her older ones. Her writing style has evolved since this was written (and nobody had a laptop or a cell phone!) enough that I wouldn't have pegged it for a Nora Roberts. I'm not sure when I started to read her books, but it must have been after this one!

This is an early NR book, written in 1983. It really didn't draw me into the story line. I tried to get into this story, it just wasn't there for me. However if you are a fan of her earlier work, you may enjoy this story.

Usually a Nora Roberts fan. This was a waste of my time and money. Steamy sex scenes, get boring after a while. Think touch of Fifty Shades. The characters were very uni-dimensional and the story line simplistic.
