You're the Best! Reviews
YOU'RE THE BESTBelinda HollyerNonfiction:Memior220 pages YOU’RE THE BEST, has fourteen different stories about friendship. Most of the stories didn’t end up all that happy, but a couple of them did. One of my favorite stories is called Annie and Me. It is about two girls who did almost everything together. One day something tragic happened. Annie was diagnosed with cancer. Those two girls no longer did everything together. Annie started to lose her hair and she was going through chemotherapy. When Annie was too sick for the other girl to see her, the other girl would go to the beach and collect shells. Annie was getting better and the other girl was still collecting shells. She and her family collected enough shells to cover twelve stones on their wall. Annie made it home for their twelfth birthday. Then everything was fine and they went back to playing almost every day. I liked this book, because it had real stories of how friendships change. Some of them I can relate to and some of them I hope I don’t get to. I loved how all of the stories started positive, but I didn’t like how most of them ended negatively. I also liked how some of the people kept their friendship over the years and even when they were really old. I learned that making friends is just as easy as it is to break friends.
You're the Best!Belinda Hollyer224 pagesMemoirYou're the Best! by Belinda Hollyer is about fourteen different stories about friendship. This book talked about how friendship can be really hard but will always be there for you. One of my favorite story was called Annie and Me. Annie and Jenny have been friends since they were in kindergarten. They would spend every minute they could together! Though in fifth grade everything goes wrong. Annie ends up in the hospital because she has leukemia. Jenny is really sad that this happened and really wants Annie to survive. In her backyard, she has a sandstone wall made with 24 blocks. Jenny believes that every block she covers with shells, that is when Annie will survive till for sure. Jenny goes to the beach any time possible and collects as many shells available. Finally, she covers the whole wall and Annie ends up being fine. Yeah!I like this book for a few reasons. First reason I like this book is that its is really interesting learning about how hard friendship can be. I read many sad stories about friendship that ended up good. Though, there were a few that didn't. Those were the stories that I didn't too much. Overall, this book was pretty good but there could have been a few more happy ending stories!
